Tried my red HT leads on engine,

Then bought some purple HT leads, they're not the shade of purple I was hoping for, so I'm not sure if I like them.
I have spare black and red leads, so not sure which to run at the mo.

Few spots of rust around the front passenger window that needed attention.
(If this was my black VR it would of got cut out and welded, or whole door replaced most probs. But I fancied trying something different on this one as it just my daily)

Removed  door card, window and mechanisms, window seals, and wing mirror.
Masked up surrounding area. And sanded the rust back.
Then started to treat the remaining rust with some rust remover gel.

cleaned the gel and repeated 3-4 time. Once 98-99% of the rust was gone I treated the remaining 1% with rust nuterlising treatment. Hoping this will be enough to stop the rust returning. But only time will tell.

After treating the metal I sprayed on some high build primer and left to dry.

Finally I sand it smooth and sprayed it mulberry.
    But I didn't to take a photo.

Two things missing from Golf Mk3's as dailies are.... A front Center arm rest and a left (clutch) footrest.
My black VR has a genuine golf mk3 footrest I sourced few years ago. Yes they make a MK3 foot rest. I believe they come from a special edition diesel, but not 100%. I tried to find another one for this car, but I can't seem to find any for sale at the mo.
    So I bought a Golf mk5 footrest.

I'm halfway through custom fitting it. Photos to come soon.

As for the arm rest I bought an after market one meant to fit a Golf mk3. Only problem was they are designed to fit a standard center console. Not a highline center console.
Instead of swapping to a standard center console. As I like the highline one and how it surrounds the handbrake, I had to customise the mount so it would fit.

Mount that came with arm rest designed to fit a standard center console.

Starting to customising the mount. I didn't get a photo of the finished mount. But this was in the first stages.

Then got it fitted nicely to the highline center console, and fitted back in to car.

Removed the highline gear knob to restore it.
A pervious owner had sprayed it black, I guess to trying to hide the few worn areas.

Sanded back with 800 grit, and I'm going to re-stain and spray a few layers of varnish. Still waiting for my varnish to be derived and then I can fishing it.

    More to come soon....

    Run fine for a while....
Sat idling on the drive today...

Then cranks over and over and won't start....

Got myself a cheap set of TT comp wheels that will do me over the winter months.

In need of refurb, but all can be done at home, local garage will remove tyres and refit for a box of teabags lol....

Yet again, rain has stopped progress!

Rear bumper removed, found a little more welding to tackle.....

Next issue is the random cutting out when at idle, checked everything out and looking like a crank sensor issue.....

So, do I go genuine or aftermarket?

Trip to the breakers soon for more bits too....
    Arch liners,
    Glovebox,
    Lock set,

    Never ending this game!!!!

    Right, update time!!!

I decided to take the car off the road for a couple of weeks as one of the shocks was leaking.

I started by stripping off the suspension and wheels. I sent the shocks to GAZ to get serviced with new rods and seals and decided to send the wheels to the powder coaters as they were looking a little tired and I fancied a colour change!

Whilst the car was up on stands doing nothing I thought I would spend the time rebuilding the gearbox as it was getting a little noisy and I didn't like the look of the oil that came out of the last gearbox change. So I set about removing the gearbox without pulling the whole engine. Just a not to anyone attempting to remove a gearbox without removing the engine, it is an utter ballache but if you remove the drive flanges and the gearbox mount it can be done. Here is a pic of me removing the box

Once I had removed the gearbox I started to strip it down to see what condition it was in. There was a lot of metallic sludge in the gearbox so I decided it would be best to build a different set of gear in to the box. Luckily I had a spare gearbox kicking about so i commenced stripping the gear sets out of the spare one.

After stripping both gearboxes I now just needed to fit all the new bearings to the spare gear sets clean everything up and put them back together. I made a bit of a cleaning area and commenced cleaning everything and fitting the new bearings

After fitting all the bearings and making sure everything was clean, it was then on to the task of completing all the preload checks on each shaft. Using the correct specs and a DTI I was able to measure what preload each shaft was under. Its not exactly done how the VW manual states but it still worked out the same.

Prebuild checks completed, it was time to put the gearbox back together for the final time.

All rebuilt I then just had the small task of refitting it. Luckily not too much bad language was said as I managed to get it in to place without too much difficulty.

The next major tasks was to upgrade the brakes. I had been sitting on a set of wilwwod superlites for a few years but I had never got around to fitting them. i started by stripping the old paint off the calipers

Next I painted them and then remade new link pipes for them.

I thought it would be a nice touch to make the writing stand out a bit more so i painted in the letters white. This took me a very long time as it turns out I dont have a very steady hand and I kept getting white over run in the red and then when I would touch up the red I would end up getting it in the white!!!! but after about 5 attempts I finally managed to get something that looked like it actually said wilwood

Once completed I then commenced fitting them on to the car. i had already worked out what offsets I needed to make them mount up properly. I ended up using a 312mm disc originally of an audi tt or golf mk4. I spent a little extra and got some brembo drilled discs that I think look pretty decent. I also machining the caliper carrier 8mm to try and get the disc to sit central within the caliper. heres the final result

My suspension arrived back from Gaz, so i decided to do what I always do. I covered the threads in graphite sspray and the wrapped them in cling film to stop them corroding.

I received my wheels back from the powder coaters and im very happy with how they came out

And i'm afraid that's all for now. 'Im hoping to get some track days done and a couple of sessions down at santa pod so I wont be doing anything other than maintenance probably for a little while. i hope you like the progress anyway

So just recently found out my head gasket has gone , hence the brown water in my header (that I previously posted about before)
While they are doing that they are replacing my stem seals ....is there an uprated version available or can I get stem seal retainers for a vr6 ? - I know they are available for my other halfs vxr- but want to know if it's an option on mine and are they worth it ? If so are they available on their own without having to buy a whole kit ? And if possible can you attach links for me please
Im also having the timing chains replaced and uprated clutch fitted at same time

An ebay purchase in August 2013.

I always wanted one so when I saw it for £1200 I could not resist.
Had been resprayed properly in the past and had low miles....probably due to the gearbox problem.

Ran it for 2 years as the primary car and did 20K miles.

Have changed hopeless angle eye lights for Mk3.5 crystals.
Used Koni dampers with H&R springs replaced dangerous lowered setup
Cone filter (previous one was too small)
    Headlamp switch
    Crack pipe etc
New aux belt and pulleys (failure of the these caused it's only breakdown).
    New front wheel bearing
    New rear wheel bearings
    Regassed air con (climatronic)
    Fixed gearbox (wiring x 2)
    Removed aftermarket alarm after malfunction.
Cleaned up earths in engine bay to fix instruments and improve charging
Reinstated rear wiper with a Mk4 one.
    New lower front wishbones
    New engine mounts
    Steering wheel cable band

    ..plus normal servicing.

Currently SORN in the garage, but will be back on the road in 2017 with classic insurance. Needs a bit of bodywork love (bennyk hopefully) as has a few rust spots on the rear arches, front windscreen surround, rear hatch (body not tailgate), sills (probably will replace) and a dent on the door. But otherwise all good with great performance and fantastic sound.

The manufacturer of the car is Volkswagen
The model of the car is a Corrado Storm
    The engine is a 2.9 VR6
The car has travelled approximately 105,000 miles; 10k since the engine rebuild (give or take a few miles).
It has electric windows, both of these work.
It has an electric sunroof, this also works.
It has a speed sensitive spoiler with manual override, this works as it should.

The paint is storm blue. It has stone chips and a few rust spots. Overall it is in good condition and looks nice when cleaned. I am certain that the paint is original.
The interior is black leather. It is in good condition for the age. I find myself applying Raceglaze Leather care products to it to ensure it is both supple and fresh.
The headlining is a bit ropey. Could do with replacing if I am being honest.
The car lacks a stereo so I find myself listening to the engine soundtrack. It is more then adequate.
There seems to be a problem with the electric mirrors. I am investigating and will work out what is wrong...hopefully.
The car has been modified with the list of parts mentioned in my original post.

The car has 3 map settings.
    Baby Map = 330BHP
    Obsolete Map = 380BHP
    Beast Mode = 540BHP
