    had a top day and meeting everyone for the first time was great. like Binliner, most of your names went in and out (sorry) but I'm sure there will be more times we meet. I'm now in the mood for modding as I want be part of the the 200+bhp next time. exhaust and induction kit on order!

    when I had my rad smashed by a dear last summer, VW put on a std rad on and were realy pissed when I said I wanted the VR6 one put on...took 3 months to sort out and convince them I knew there was a difference..don't trust VW main dealers as far as I could throw one!!

    33 yrs old, SG19 post code, 9+ years ncd, norwich union direct £380 fully comp, protected ncd, excess £250 with wife on policy, drive any other car as well. was with bell direct very good but underwritten by NUD so i went direct. (excuse the pun)

    quite agree acf8181, but i have found the green stuff range very effective from cold and they work very well when warm to give that little extra help when braking, std discs still on my 94

    i would imaging that the general use one is for gti's??

    heater matrix is what i would say as well but before you go mad it could just be air bubbles as the engine automatically cycles them out, go on a long run but watch temp and take some spare water

    the thermostat can stick open or shut, therefore restricting the water past. you can take it out and check it by doing the same as temp sender..not much help but at least it would rule out thermostat

    be carefull taking thermostat out, I was told they there are some funny VW screw heads that have to be undone and it is not a ten minute job. also there is a thermostat sensor on the right hand (looking from front of car) top of the radiator that cuts the fans in, maybe the fans are running all the time? mine wern't working and ran hot but may run the other way??

    As per thread subject, please can someone tell me the exact spec of the battery for my L reg March 94 VR6. Is it best to get a Bosch or VW??? Thanks Andy B PS If your thinking, Yes, my battery did give up in the snow!!!!

    Anyone know the ideal operating temp for oil? Mine shows about 102ish degrees C, while running along. Anyone any different? Is this too hot or just right? ?! ?!

    i am being told that all stages are working b ut i'm not so sure. when i sit my car on the driveway and let it run it goes up to 110 before comes on. i don't think this is working properly. thanks for the part number. are the grooves in your rad larger than a normal golf?

    A couple of you know about this but for those who don't, had some work done by VW garage when I hit a deer. The car has not worked properly since and is overheating. They have repalced fans, fan motor, thermostat, water pump and check all electrics and water system all FOC. Been in VW for over 2 weeks and it STILL is over heating. Checked the head gasket and told OK. The only thing they have not done is swapped the radiator over. Anyone have any ideas? Fans still do not come on until 110 degrees, sit in traffic and it goes well over 110. When running along it still sits ay 105! VW say t
