  1. Wheels came with the car, so not sure mate.
  2. Cheers , yep wheels are 16inch speedlines. pretty pleased with the car now, just needs to sit a bit lower.
  3. Pete, ive sent u an email with pics of the car. hope im not too late! ive been away since friday
  4. Im with Brentacre, best price i could find with all mods declared and no extra cost. Only have had to use them to claim for a smashed windscreen and they gave excellent service
  5. Feckin hell. Not sure i like this thread! Ok i have a noob question: why do diesels produce so much torque? Is it simply because they are turboed, or is there something about diesel as a fuel itself?
  6. Why is no one else keen on going on the stand? I thought there was loads of interest before?
  7. My head gasket went just after i bought the car, then to really rub it in the mechanic put it back together with the timing out! Drove around with a very lame VR6 for a few weeks
  8. Have you looked at the noisey engine thread in the general forum? Does your engine sound anything like this: http://www.negativelight.com/clips/tchain/chain.wma
  9. Sounds like it could be a head gasket Have a really good look around the coolant pipes and check for leaks, they should be fairly easy to spot as the coolant would leave a white residue. If theres a split pipe you might be ok. The misfire sounds ominous though. You really need to take it to a garage and they will do a hydrocarbon test on the coolant to see if oil/ combustion gases and coolant are mixing. This wont cost much. You can check for yourself whether theres crap getting in the coolant: just unscrew the expansion tank lid WHEN ITS COOL and if it stinks and theres an oily film then its
  10. Im up for it! I'll be there on the Sunday
  11. My housemates boyfriend has one with nitrous, very nice, very very loud.
  12. 114K, head gasket went recently, but otherwise sweet
  13. I'll lend u my old set if you need them couzens. I live in southampton so it wouldnt be too far for u to drop them back. I'll be at inters on sunday. Let me know if u need them
  14. I reckon it probably is a bit high at 7K. Its been said before, but all the mods (even though they are good ones) aren't really going to add value to the car and might put some people off. People generally look at age, mileage, condition and the spec eg highline, with air con .... have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk to see what similar cars are up for. I sold my 1.8 golf last year and thought id try my luck asking a bit more than it was worth, got absolutely no interest at all. brought it down by 500 quid to what it said in parkers and got flooded with calls. 15. I like that. coilovers eh? looks pretty low already!
  16. Where exactly is the ticking coming from? My engine makes a slight 'ticking' and ive heard others doing it too, dont know if its a problem or not though. My engine also went through a stage of whistling pretty loudly, although this has now stopped. There was also a very loud clunking after i bought the car, and i took it to a garage but they found nothing wrong. The clunking also faded away after time. I doubt there's anything wrong with yours, but i'll see what the others say
  17. Yep, there was a picture of it in the gallery, but i cant get into the gallery any more. It ran down to the bottom of the front bumper, i think you'd have problems if you have air con. It doesnt fit mine now cos the vento headlights are too big.
  18. Im with six appeal here. My ramair was in the normal position but i had a cold air feed pipe that covered one side of the filter in all sorts of dirt. took it off as i didnt want any crap to get through to the engine and im sure, for whatever reason, it sounds better without the cold air feed.
  19. Has this problem just come along out of the blue, or has it occurred after some engine work (or has it been there since youve had it)? If there is nothing wrong with any of the electrics/ computing side of things it could be the timing is out on the cams or crank. i had this problem after my head gasket was replaced, the mechanic put one of the gears back one tooth out of sync, and it drove like shite.
  20. Id say thats a fair run down, although you could get an air filter for half that, depends on whether you want top of the range or not. the other thing is that the main benefit of the schrick manifold is to increase torque, those in the know really recommend it, but at £100 for each bhp i think i can live without it atm!

Im sure an upholstering (sp?) company could make one up for you. there's a place near me called seats galore that specialise in this sort of thing. http://www.seatsgalore.co.uk/ [ Edited Fri Apr 02 2004, 12:59PM ]
  23. I got ATE power discs from euro car parts, the pads came from german, swedish and french. yep, they have the swirling grooves. I cant remember exactly what they cost, just that 280mm are quite a bit cheaper than 288mm. I think it was about 150-200quid for pads and discs all round.
