Ive just got some lowering springs that came with the car. Lowered 3 or 4cm id guess. If i was to do it from scratch i think id get some coilovers for mega lowness. I noticed that venom are selling off supersport coilovers for £340,... tempting. As for brakes ive got ATE grooved power discs and pagid fast road pads, which have been recommended to me, only i cant tell you if theyre any good cos i havent got round to fitting them &|
As far as i can tell my car has been lowered by a previous owner using the cheapo springs only method. I see most people would go for coilovers. What is the benefit of these over just springs, other than adjustability? Im pretty happy with the springs, low but not scraping the ground, and although you feel every bump in the road i'm guessing this is the same with coilovers? Hopefully i could have a ride in someones at the rr day
Yep, mine have done the same thing. Plastic had started to bulge out and looks shite. Decided to do something about it yesterday and have ripped off all the sills and the plastic wheel arches cos i dont like them either. I should have taken a bit more care over it as ive damaged it a bit (i think some heat would have helped taking the glued bits off), but the paint and bodywork looks good underneath and after ive tidied it it should look much better without the plastic. the old backbox will just piss my parents off and take up more space in their garage, you want it? Pete, have you got a centre silencer or just a bit of pipe?
Will be getting myself an exhaust this weekend. Decided to get a supersprint system, cos everyoe says they're good. Back box costs £170 and I have the option of getting a new centre silencer for another £170 or just a length of pipe to replace it instead, for £40. I realise the cheaper option will be a bit louder, but so long as its not too OTT i dont mind a bit of noise. What you recomend?
Hi again all. Had the whole hall/cam sensor thing looked into, and apparently although it is showing as a fault, its fine!. So are all the rest of the electrics. All he could tell me was that manifold vacuum pressure was very low - 10 inches instead of 18. I have no idea what this means. the original mechanic that replaced the head gasket and essentially caused the problem is sticking to his word and is taking the head off again on tues to see if he put it back together wrongly. Anyone have any advice for him??
Thanks guys, i think you're right and my 94 doesn't have a distributor. Looks like the car DOES have a hall sensor though, despite what VW garage say, so i guess the fault is with the hall sensor or with cam position sensor, as you say.
First off, well done to whoever has made this site, very cool. Second: My car has suffered a major loss of power following a replaced head gasket. Diagnostics show a fault with the Hall sensor, but being a 94 VR6 it doesn't HAVE a Hall sensor. The fault cannot be removed by just resetting the system. Any ideas as to what is wrong ?!
If you dont want to spend big on wheels, suspension etc. then i'd probably go for an induction kit too. They make a nice noise and supposedly increase bhp, so long as you give a good supply of cold air. what will they counts as a mod though? i got a pair of clear indicators for 10 quid.
