After 5 years of pleasure, fun & smiles I have sold my 1997 Dragon Green 3 door Golf VR6. Due to an ongoing back problem I was finding it more and more difficult getting in to my beaver grey heated leather seats. I will miss my Golf, which in 5 years never brokedown or failed to start. The only things to blight its perfect record was the car rolling away with the handbrake on, the ABS control module failing and the ariel amplifier packing in. It had a full vw service history and 67000 miles. I had replaced the usual service items such as discs, pads shocks, bushes etc. The BBS wheels could

Had a similar problem with our Golf two weeks ago. Drove about 6 miles to the supermarket and back and reversed up the drive, applied the handbrake and put it in gear. Unpacked the car and about 10-15 minutes later heard a crunch, looking out the window saw a car in the garden jammed up against the hedge and tree. Thought some idiot had crashed through the garden then realised it was our VR6! Got to the car and it was locked, the handbrake was still on and it was still in gear. Couldn't move it 'cos it was wedged against the tree so had to have a friend winch it out with their Landy. Just had

:@ Success, after half an hour rooting around the head unit with my ear defenders on the effing thing came out! It had four catches on it, two along the top and two along the bottom, following advice on the forum I used a junior hacksaw blade cut in half (the full set of removal tools left in the car by the auto electrician were pretty useless but are now mine) The offending item is now in a bucket surrounded by many layers of soundproofing material in the shed at the top of the garden - it can, however, still be heard screeching at maximum volume! Apart from driving over it or blowing it up

Does any one know what the trim code for "Beige" leather seats is? Car is a 97 in dragon green. Cant go to a VW stealer as there is not one this side of the Irish Sea!

Have just read service report from my VW dealer, it says " ABS hydraulic pump control unit faulty - part number 1J0698217A = £518.88 excl Vat and Labour" I take it this is the part under the bonnet? How much has anybody else paid for theirs?

Has anyone else had their ABS control module fail, and is it a diy job to replace it?
-
My abs warning light is also on, but my local vw dealer tells me its the abs control module which is faulty and wants £500 to supply a new one. Has any one else had to replace this part or am i being told porkies?
