  1. Yes, these are monthly figures. The Tdi figure would be bumpedup a bit by the need to add the aircon optional extra. Had a sit in the Tdi in the showroom yesterday and it looks very bland - doesn't feel like an
  2. Have just moved jobs and am considering taking up the company car option. Brand snobbery prevents me from straying too far away from VW, so it may have to be goodbye to the VR6. So.....do I go for the Gt Tdi which would cost me only
  3. Just renewed mine. £430 with Admiral - 31yo, 7 years no claims, modified exhaust and air filter declared. £10 cheaper than Elephant and £160 cheaper than my previous renewal note from Privilege.
  4. Mine has gone too on the drivers side. Just the plastic sill cover - I happened to step on it getting out of the car and it split showing a nasty rusty interior. Should be easy to fit its just getting hold of one.
  5. I just tried getting a quote from Elephant - £463 ie £100 cheaper than mine now with Privilege. Strange because I'm sure I tried them last May at renewal time and they were much more expensive.

  9. The quote I have so far is £650+vat for a 96 engine with guaranteed 54k on(mine is 90k anyway), plus about £3-400 for fitting.
  10. My 96 VR6 practically broke down on Sunday in Birmingham with a horrendous knocking noise coming from the engine. Got it picked up by RAC and taken to a VW specialist. Reported Verdict - Con Rod -Bearing turned round on crankshaft blocking lube hole and resulting on non-lubed mechanical damage to both. Replacement engine reportedly cheaper than repair! Any advice would be appreciated on: 1) Is this just "one of those things"? I can't see how I could have avoided it.... 2) What sort of cost would be reasonable for a VR6 enginer from a breakers yard, and for fitting? 3) Does getting a replace
