95 VR6 misfire, cracked coilpack
Dr.Pepper replied to Dr.Pepper's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
The set of plugs appears to have cured it. Heyho, I suppose a new coilpack can only be a good thing... -

Ahh, hindsight. A set of plugs is £60 from gsf and the coilpack was £140 I took each lead off the coilpack while it was running and it changed every time. Each lead sparked as I put it back on. That made me think it wasn't one individual plug or lead. Then when I took off the coilpack and it was cracked, I made that assumption. Heyho. I've held off getting plugs until the weekend while I have a read around and see what other possibilities there are. -

It didn't fix the issue I'm consoling myself with the fact that the old one was cracked and it's probably only a good thing that it was replaced. Next stop, plugs... -
Not for me. If I remember rightly, it took a wiggle of the exhaust brackets and mounts to just move it away a tiny bit.

I had a heat shield rattle at one point. It would resonate at a certain rev range.

I got a lead from a popular online auction site, and downloaded the software from here : http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/download/ The lead came with drivers to make the usb lead use a com port. You can't do anything but read with the software I've got.

My 95 VR6 started misfiring yesterday. VAG-COM didn't show me any faults. I removed the coilpack and took these pictures. There's three cracks in the plastic, could this be causing my misfire ? If I have to replace the coilpack, is gsf a good place to get it from ? Cheers for any help you can give.

clutch pedal clicking (switch noise)
Dr.Pepper replied to jezmoz's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Finally got around to replacing the slave cylinder. Piece of pi$$. Ticking noise has gone. Lovely job. Just got to stop it from deciding to stall every now and then for no reason, and all is good. Wouldn't be any fun without some kind of little issue to fix would it -

Is the master cylinder expensive ? A quick look on gsfcarparts.com and I can't find it. The slave is £30-40.... -

Is it easy to replace the slave cylinder ? My clutch is making a ratchet type noise, and I can feel it through the pedal too. Sounds to me from listening with the bonnet up, that it's the slave cylinder. Going to get one from gsf and fit it. Bentley manual doesn't seem to mention it though.... -
Damn. Fair enough, everyone needs a holiday. Any idea what their waiting time for workshop stuff is at the moment ?
