    Ref the colour debate, when I was looking at Vr's I saw a purple R plate with cream leather, I was nearly sick arghhhh. But Olly's quite right D green rules.

    Glyn it,s interesting you mention that the highline is a group higher on the insurance cos when i got quoted the highline was cheaper for some strange reason.!!!!!!!!!!!

    I think I may be able to tell you about one of the blanks. Mine is a 96 Vr and just above the ashtray on the far left is a 3cm rounded blanking plate. This never has a purpose other than to hide the VAG com computer plug. Pull out the ashtray and the plate slides out to your right, hope this helps

    I have a 96 Vr so how do fine out which ECU I have, this is just out of interest and nothing to do with the bet as he has not mentioned years just the spec.

    Come on then, someone can help me win a tenner, and no i won't be splitting it before you ask. My friend has informed me!!! that the highline has more power than the standard Vr. I have disputed this but he is going to stand on until I have evidence. Send us the stats in a web site. PS that tenners mine, I'll burn it in the Vr.

    You need to get it plugged into a VAG fault code reader, that should identify any faults in your sensors etc and will give you the low down. I've just had mine read by a mate it showed 2 faults both down to a mucky carb, when cleaned the ECU was reset with the code reader and the Vr is tits now. I'm no expert but I believe this applies :- If a fault occurs the ECU will compensate for the fault even if is has been corrected>>>>>>>>>>>>>until the ECU is reset.     Yeap i'm another, i had to break my plate at a cost of £18 to replace. I used to have the plates stuck on but they did occasionally fall off!!!oopps and i was worried about them being stolen. My screws snapped, i drilled out the rusted bolts and replaced with new copper greased self tappers through the boot. Its solid now. 8o)

    I do around 120 miles a week to and from work etc, this uses about half a tank (20 quid in the north). I only use normal unleaded and get on average 25-30 MPG on my trips to work. On the 2nd setting on the wiper stick it shows that over the past 2000 miles the average MPG was 28. I'm happy with that. it will do around 33 on the m-way although my MK 3 GTI 16v did 40/45 on a long run!!!!!!

    I was looking at VR6 related plates but I don't want to make it more obvious to TWOCERS etc. I mean we all know it's a Vr but I've thought twice about advertising the fact.     I have completed the Police standard driving course of 3 weeks, this has made NO difference to my insurance and I was told I could now join the Institute of Advance Motoring but when I checked with tthe insurance this made no difference either????? Not worth the hassle and expense, and the Institute want an annual subscription. :?

    LOL at NOVA BOYZ, that is a similar conversation as I had with a friend recently, Q; Why do shite cars always come screaming past u on the motorway. A; Coz they are trying to prove something. In a Vr most things can fly past but we can sit at 70/80/90 MPH knowing full well if we wish to go then we will see them later, alot later. As Vr drivers we don't have to make a statement, we drive a statement. Quite fitting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
