on a similar not , are the cams the same on all 2.8 vr6's ie early dizi modles and later coil pack modles????

I've just done the head gasket a month ago and everything looked fine, the car was runnin sweet until i put that wynns stuff in it!!!, it was on Dubsports rollers the week previous and put out a healthy 178.9bhp (corrected), the cam snapped or should i say broke away at the point where the woodruff key sits inside the timing cog, i'm not sure if the valves hit pistons or what??, is there enough clearance to avoid this on a vr6???

Hi all, i have a 92 Vr6 Golf and it's smoke a bit on overrun, i wanted to calm this down a little untill i had the money for a bottom end rebuild so i used " Wynns Stop Smoke", i added it to the engine like it said and ran it to work , it ran fine, set off back home 3 hrs later, it ran fine, 100 miles round trip i might add so it definately had chance to get all round the engine!!, The following morning i started the car and set off, i didn't even make it out of my drive!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi All Has anyone had any experience with replacing piston rings and shell bearings on a VR6 Golf?? Whats involved, rough guide??, any help would be greatly recieved as i get blue smoke on overun aftre 10 secs and this clears once throttle applied, no smoke most other times Help me please!!! :(

I have two friends with VR's and there's both idle at 750 rpm and do not fluctuate or stall like mine does??, i think i'm too far away from Stealth as i live in Skipton N Yorks Do you reckon the ISV could be to blame??, not sure myself, i know it would cure a G60 idle problem but have no idea about VR's, steep learning curve here i come!!

Hi all, i've just bought a 92 Golf VR6 and in the 3 months i've owned it , it's had a really low idle speed of 550-650rpm!! but sometimes either when cold or hot it's idle will fluctuate quite badly sometimes to the point of stalling!!. I've given it a full service inc plugs, leads, cap, rotor all filters (Genuine) and replaced the head Gasket and chain tensioner as they were both needed but nothing seems to affect the low idle speed and the fluctuations??? I've owned G60's up to now and if this were to happen to a G60 i'd replace the ISV to cure the idle speed fluctuations but what about the
