  1. Hi Jody - It's the usual stuff really - FSH / no obvious signs of damage / no mayo on the oil cap / spend the most you can afford etc - the more technically minded ppl will have better advice I'm sure!
  2. If you check madmonkee's thread on overfuelling (further down the page) I think it asnwers this - basically it's not a prob
  3. Are they the ones on Ebay? Would be a cool look if they go in without too many probs 8o)
  4. wow! how did someone record my engine without me knowing about it!
  5. 31 mpg?? I can only dream of that!
  6. Depends on what you want really - standard heads with valves I've seen for £200 although you would need other bits like new cam followers.gaskets etc - an up-rated head is around £800-£1000 but that does give some power increases.
  7. Mine sounds like a bag of spanners! In fact it's almost like a diesel so I'm thinking about a new head as it's probably the tappets because the sound is much the same from all over the engine.
  8. 1. Mine is usually between 85 - 105 depending on speed/journey time etc 2. Once again - don't buy a VR6 for economy! 21mpg on average around town & 27mpg or so on Motorways. 3. No but I'd think it was similar to the common Ford problem of bad earthing in the light cluster(s) - clean up the connections with emery cloth.
  9. Mine sits at just above the '70' mark most of the time and dips a little below that on the Motorway or any other long run. In traffic it goes to half way then comes back down once the fans kick in.
  10. Im no expert but I would think a remap would help a lot so the ECU can get the fuellng spot on now that the cars breathing better though exhausts are supposed to reduce low end torque but they shountn't bugger up the high-end should they?
  11. Put me down 4 it! this time I want better figures than last time!
  12. Well I've got one front GSF made by Nissens (they've moved on from huts I guess!) - is it essential to remove the bumper? Had thoughts of slipping it between the slam panel & bumper?
  13. Hi Tristan I've just fitted one myself - I didn't want to risk a home-made affair with all the rain we get! Mine was bout £80-£100 I think from GSF. Im still not totally convinced by it because the sweep isn't as good as having 2 wipers - the one on my MK2 was better in this regard. I fyou get one & need any advice let me know.
  14. Has anyone bought a new rad in the last 12 months? If so, where did you get it from? GSF quote £80 but ECP have one at £80 and a 'genuine' one for £120. Any thoughts on which one is best? Thanks
  15. Ok done mine & wasn't too hard bearing in mind the lack of space. The biggest problem as ever was removing those horrible clips the factory use! Theres no great gush of water when you take the pipes off or anything. The new pump does make a clicking noise on ignition but nothing like the hornets nest it sounded like before! Only one slight prob is that the new pump has a raised lip at the bottom so the rubber holder can't go all the way down which means the upper rubber holder doesn't grip it properly - isn't a biggie but bear this in mind
  16. I'd do it providing no-one minds me drving round like an old woman for a while! Though some advice from 'old-hands' at this kinda thing would be very welcome!
  17. Thats the beauty of a VR6 - they can be driven hard when you fancy it or nice & relaxed when you want to cruise! 8o)
  18. Isn't the point of the carbon filter inside the BMC to insulate it from the hot air in the engine bay? I thought that was the main advantage of having one over a standard induction kit? I have a 60mm cold air feed from the bottom of the bumper but tomorrow I'm gonna add another from the other side to see what difference (if any) it makes.
  19. Actually for what they are, Nova's aren't too bad - they handle well & are nippy but I'd bet your mates car gets tiring to drive after a while - stilll fun in small doses!
  20. ok I'll give em a ring & see what they come up with!
  21. Simon where did you get the cleaning stuff for your ram air? I've looked at their site but it seems to be just trade based? Thanks
  22. Yay my Milltek has finally arrived! Just got 2 put it on now!
