  1. If you went with a single wiper conversion, I think monowipe or SWG do a wiper arm with the washer built-in like some French cars have. Don't quote me on this coz I cld b wrong!
  2. Water has a horrible way of moving through a car! I once had a leak via a front-door rubber but the water collected in the boot somehow! That caused a lot of fruitless searching! Best way is to hose each part of the car down on a dry day & check the area that was wet before to see where it's coming from.
  3. I'd be interested in the clear rear lights Dubloke
  4. Claire what are the Avo's like for ride quality? I had them briefly on my MK2 but I didn't like them at all - far too crashy & bangy!
  5. if you use much thicker cables then its way harder but if u get some good quality cable thats not real thick - audioquest r good - then you can tape the new cable to the old stuff from the cabin-side & pull it thru from the door-side. I did this with my MK3 8 valve & it worked ok tho not without some cursing! If you're not using an amp & are going to run the speakers from the head unit, a good way to get the cable up into the head-unit area is to remove the facia (parcel tray/glovebox whatever) & then drop a 12" chain (like from a padlock) down from inside where the head-unit g
  6. I've only got a Ram Air filter on as yet (only had the car 2 weeks tho!) I find it dooes make a difference as the car is more responsive and revs more freely. Sounds good too! I will be adding a Koni/Eibach combo on the suspension front and a Jetex exhaust soon. I'm not expecting huge gains in power but based on my old MK2 I've found they do make the car more drivable especially the suspension changes. A re-map & bigger TB from AMD will make a more noticable difference I think.
  7. Damn! Since reading this thread I've been checking my mpg - 18 or so around town & 22 at best on the motorway at 80-90! that sucks! ~
  8. As Nick says the 2nd setting on the MFA gives an average of all figures since the last time it was re-set so this will be v.different from the 1st setting which only shows the last trip you made in the car. I use the 2nd setting for each week to get an overall picture of milage, fuel consumption etc. About the Ecotek you are supposed to use 2 of them coz of the size of a VR's engine but really one is enough as this does 90% of the job so the extra outlay isn't worth it.
  9. Re Amit's point about the Ecotek, I also had one on my previous car & it did cut fuel consumption as I was getting 35-40 mpg during motorway driving at speeds of 70-110mph. One thing tho, I had backfires, missing then awful idling with the engne sounding like the exhaust manifold was shot. Then the brakes started to go so when I removed the Ecotek filter the top had unscrewed itself! Thats why the engine sounded so rough & why the brakes were crap coz it was in the brake-servo hose. So Ecotek users b warned!
  10. Thanks Speedo I get what you're saying so I might (gently) ask if my garage can use a semi-synth next time!
  11. Speedo I just had mine serviced & they use Mobil 1 so is that not good coz thats fully synth isn't it?
  12. Im looking to get Konis so I checked the prices & Euro Car Parts are £10 or so each tho that isnt inc VAT i think
  13. I only got the Ram Air one because on the Club VR6 page it said a K&N was really loud & having used them before I was getting tired of cleaning & re-oiling them. The Ram Air is loud but different - I like it - for now!
  14. yea I ended up getting some ducting from halfords as well & had the same trouble as others in finding room to squeeze it in! Sounds good tho & does make the car more lively. Now for the exhaust & konis!
  15. Hi All Has anyone bought a Ram Air filter & if so, did it come with a length of ali induction tubing? I've got one from Awesome & tho the pics I've seen shown all the bits including the ali tube, mine didn't come with one. It's no biggie but I'd like to know if I'm missing out! Thx in advance
  16. Hayes in West London - Amit where ru? Looks like we r fairly local?
  17. Club VR6 lead me here! Mainly coz I was looking for info b4 buying a VR6 & now I have I havn't looked back - except at the drivers I leave in my wake!
  18. I think it's al about a need 2b noticed - hav u ever noticed that people with cars that r pretty shit seem 2 hav the loudest stereos? Perhaps in their minds it conpensates for drive a nova 1.2!
  19. Hi Amit I've got a 10" JL boxed sub in my boot & it doesn't rattle although I do only use it to compliment the music I'm playing rather than allowing it to become the overall noise as some younger drivers tend to do! I think by choosing JL ur going 4 a quality sound so it shdnt b a problem 4u. However, bass frequencies are in the same band as roadnoise, so all cars can use some kind of deadening material. I've got my boot & other area's lined with Dynamat - this really works!
