  1. you're joking surely? thats a really great shame, still, you can fix/replace cars, so although gutted, better to be safe and well than broken like a car!
  2. its a shame these pair of wankers weren't totalled in "final destination" style at the crossing! unfortunately, as u say, it always ends in someone else getting hurt! people like this dont deserve to even be associated with the vw badge or its ever growing "sensible" culture! well done btw, as most peeps i know would have got out and crunched some heads!
  3. this is what it comes down to basically, its all very well making the wheel look good as new, finish wise, but if you can't match the colour, then it either looks odd, or you do all wheels and risk an all but factory look!
  4. aren't we the picky one mr.leese? lol they look sweet on the car, although after seeing the grey mk.3 in pvw this month i'd go for a smaller diameter myself! and maybe just a chrome/polished lip, but no copying me mark now u know my plans! its our little secret huh? i pay for bribes too, lol!
  5. tbh i would get it properly refurbed! i have a set of theses wheels and the finish is not diamond cut as far as i know, that reseved for polished lips and the like! there are some pretty nasty scrapes to the edge of the rim there, and if doing it yourself, you may end up with a flat edge to the rim and it would stand out. go too far and you may not get it refurbed anyway. i reckon on about 35-40 pounds to get it done properly, which, considering the cost of a new one, is quite cheap i think!
  6. spooky, anyone else watching the 4400? lol welcome back clive!
  7. demon tweeks sell sump guards to fit mk.3 golfs for £150+vat. they come pre-formed and with all the brackets ready to bolt on. dont think they're as "swiss-cheese" like as the ones from the us as they are designed for competition use, but they should withstand any abuse any of us can throw at them i would think! group buy anyone?
  8. surely vw would not got to the expense of creating expensive one off moulds just to make the 3.5 cabriolet look like a mk.4 when they can just use parts from a mk.4 front to start with which would be the current model anyhow! maybe the front panel is mk.3, i dont know for sure, but its worth checking it just to make sure that its not just mk.4 stuff!
  9. the induction kits fit after the maf so there's no need to worry about any wires being re-routed!
  10. so that'll be fine for me then pete! starting to get a little concerned now by the conflicting information given in the modding fields as to whats best and whats not!
  11. thats what mine looks like too, for those that have seen it! apart from the fact mine has no logo or lines in it now!
  12. and you need the ignorant americans to ship the stuff to start with as they seem very reluctant to do so in my experience so far. no matter, i sorted mine in the uk now!
  13. thats what marks on about, the aux water pump is electric on the vr!
  14. very much still available recently repalced mine with a bosch one! much quieter than the old one!
  15. give me a pm, i may be able to help you out! the charger i just bought has mina's old 8psi pulley with it. i will not be running this pulley to start with as the software will need changing and other factors needed to complete the stage two vf kit. i may let it go if you have no joy anywhere else!
  16. welcome to the wonderfull world of full on car modifying! perfection itself is never easy but is always worth the wait and rewards are very satisfying! its a slippery slope from here on in clive! lol
  17. mark-do they do the switch for the vr6 engine? i thought they only stocked the switch for the gti and 4-cyl engines as i asked this question some while back? the 180 switch will not be any advantage with the 160 thermostat i wouldnt think!
  18. when u say full geometry set-up do you mean rear camber adjust also? the price is very keen if so, and though not the sceptical type when given the people involved reccomendations, i have yet to find a company offering a better service than audi's 4wd breizbass equipment for accuracy in itself!
  19. i bleieve its easier than converting the car to take the vr lump in general, its the wiring loom that brings headaches in proportion to world destruction. if you have the pre-fly-by-wire-throttle jobbiy then it becomes easier, but you've all heard the story about clocks/transponder/original loom required? i would be mor than happy to lend ahand also, if onlt ot make tea and eat cakes and learn a little in the process! try getting as much info on the conversion to start with claire, then you're in with a fighting chance!
  20. tbh, they aint all that, apart from the 4wd which helps them away a litle, a well sorted vr will outpace one once moving and a charged one will destroy them! hence me getting a charger! bring it on!
  21. drag me out????? wild horses won't stop me coming out for a larf with you guys again!
  22. at the end of the day, its always a great shame, but if somebody wants it bad enough, they will take it whatever preventative measures are taken. i have gone to great lengths to ensure my cars stay with me, but if someone steals one ,then fair play, you deserve to have pissed me off! the thing that always concerned me is, if you're a mobile alarm fitter, you also have the ability to get round them, and surely there's a fair bit of dosh to be made in that side if need be! ~ [ Edited Thu Nov 18 2004, 07:08AM ]
