  1. nothing wrong with the response from my ram-air. and the rr figures dont lie!
  2. 195/45/16 or 195/40/16 if you're feeling daring!
  3. i would have to say, i think that 17's look good size wise, but leave quite a bit to be desired on the handling front! i have just bought some 16's again and think its the best compromise to handling/looking sweet, if you want the best of both worlds that is! no doubt, my opinions will not be shared with all who pass this way!

    Car mats

i got the justmatz ones in mine, custom colour and binding, £55 i think they were , had to wait a while for mine as the colour was not a common one though(i have the blue interior). most others available off the in "off the shelf" times though! excellent quality and as individual as u want!
  5. vr6mal-is your suspension standard set-up now? if it is it may be that the rear shocks are trashed more than the fronts! i had this problem with mine when i lowered it! it sat lower at back then front, and when i lowered it by 60mm, it only went down 35 at the back from a measured height prior to lowering, indicating that it was already lower than it should be at the back! and the rear shocks that came off were totally fubar when tested!
  6. and thats only if you have a very small arse to start with! which counts most of us out, with the exception of paula and a few other ladies i suspect! its just not fair!
  7. think my donation should just about cover the fee claire! i take it you did get it alright?
  8. dont know where you got the polo tested andrew, but its suspect! my bro has just aquired mot test inspectorat where he works(not easy these days) and any warning light that is concerned with car safety is an instant test failure ie, air bag or abs/brakes etc! imagine if the tester passed the car under an "air bag light on" scenario, and after leaving the test centre, an airbag went off and caused injury or accident! the ecu/diagnostic survey will reveal the fault code to verify the existing fault and , goodnight vienna to any insurance! not big, definately not clever!
  9. have had three sets on mine now, and the bonrath ones were stolen at a show i went to by some theiving tow rag, they were the best so far, i have inxx ones now and they have not stayed rust free depite only doing 2500miles in over 12 months with them on! good lift, not as good finish! never had a pair on that make any difference to the fit of the bonnet whilst down though?
  10. hope you have a fantastic day mate, and the honeymoon will be just great! went to barbados two years ago for my best mates wedding and had an absolutely fantastic time! even the little rain they have is warm! as for the mondeo thing, dont go there, i have an st200 after an abscence of brain one weekend, nice car, especially as i gave it to my wife to drive, and kept my vr! now thats the way to do it!
  11. i might be up for this one if its a club day as i'm a liitle reluctant to spin my pride and joy round a track with lots of lax bowel idiots in tow! have seen it all to often at combe as a spectator and participant and its not pretty! would be an ideal opportunity to give mine a good pre-show-season thrash before it gets sold on though! get some prices up claire, i'm sure there'll be enough interest!
  12. it is when you can pick up a knackered engined vr for @ 2k max these days, + 8k and its a 240bhp+ motor for @ 12 k including brake/suspension upgrades!
  13. to be fair tommy, the 172 cup is a much lighter car, and is very quick away from a standing start, however, get them on a m'way and its always a different story! all lightweight 2.0l hot hatches these days will give a vr a good run for their money or even a good spanking, unless you can drive properly(eh, mr.farmer!) , but on an open road where its mid range performance and torque that counts more, its a different kettle of fish! and its not often the vr comes up smelling like grisby docks!
  14. i believe the 2.9 tb is slightly larger internally than the 2.8, although no doubt someone from here will confirm/contradict this. it will therefore be of no significant gain as you need the tb to to make any inlet advantage, and it is also designed for a big valve head so, it will not gain you anything on the standard set up! unless you plan to purchase for future upgrades i could think of wiser ways to count your cash! bearing in mind a good big valve head is gonna cost you the best part of a grand fitted!
  15. i have also been lead to believe that the usa made subs are particularly efficient in these smaller style boxes! rockford fosgate and jl are supposed to be the top two performers in aa enclosures!
  16. i'll try to get some pics of mine up for you guys(minus the sub of course, grrrrr). on the box side of things, justin is right about the volume and protrusion thang, but the reason for the extra volume is depth of sub bass required! a smaller sealed box will produce tight punchy bass, and tens are reknowned for being the best at this, the bigger box is for those that like a bit more low thump than punch, and is also dependant on the type of music you listen to i guess! i need a bit more room in my boot currently, so will be giving this box a good workover soon, although after two kenwood to
  17. wheel bearings dont usually make grinding noises, they just hum progressively louder as they get worse! sounds like something fouling the wheel as it turns but without hearing it is difficult to really diagnose! jack the car up while the engine is ticking over and get a friend to turn the steering whell while you have a peek underneath and see if you can hear/see anything untoward! and go from there, unless anyone else has ahd the same experience on here?
  18. i have also made a false floor and side panel under the offside shelf support for the cd changer and power cap etc so it holds it in nicely anyway. still got space for some shopping too. lol!
  19. try autobahn(01953 717156) they're in norfolk but are bilstein product suppliers and may be able to point you in the right direction if nothing else! hope this helps.
  20. i have bought one of these, got the smaller version of it myself, fits as snug as a bug in a rug with no sloppy play. got mine off auto accoustics website as ex demo for £99 but when ordered it they realised they'd sold the ex demo and not deleted it from the site, so had to make me a brand new one for the same money! bonus!! cant say how it sounds as i'm still waiting for one of the brand new rf subs, has been over 5 weeks waiting now and getting miffed to say the least! to get the right sound you need to matching sub to enclosure volume!
  21. seen these wheels on many vw's on different forums, they look similar to the bbs rc's and are certainly not cheap alloys, they do make some very expensive ones too along the same price vein as rh, azev, keskin etc! £400 is not a bad price with tyres, only £100 a corner!
  22. i paid £35 each for my front ones from euro car parts, and they are the same ATE parts that were on the car from new! just make sure that you get the right side as they are handed, and dont be fooled by what it says on the box, check b4 you leave its the same!
  23. thats just naughty jason, our less mature readers may just try it! you may want to stand weel back though, as they do let fly when asked!
  24. finding a leather interior is quite hard, finding one to match a blue interior is even harder! thats why mine will have to be custom when i get round to it, after spending the dosh on the power side of things first! the standard seats are hardly a misery eh?
