  1. I'm thinking of buying a second Highline just to modify as I've been offered one cheap. My current is slightly modified but is in daily use at 44,000 miles. It would be better to have another in the garage to concentrate on. The problem is that the mileage is 106,000 (I suppose that's why it's cheap) but it's in great nick. Obviously, I'd want to use it when done so I was wondering how much life would be left in the beast. Twice round the clock? What are other peoples mileage like? (I suppose I would clean and rebuild the engine eventually anyway - has anyone done this?)

Am I the only VR6 driving vampire on here? 346yrs of age. Seriously - 33yr old singer. Have a look if you get time www.raisedbyanimals.com.
  3. I love a bit of beaver in me car
  4. Where is this Top Gear place mate, if ya don't mind me asking?
  5. Hi vrPat. I'm just about ready to get mine done and after phoning a lot of places - I've settled on Auto Body Styling near Sheffield. I've had a few things done there and the standard is very high. I didn't get the price yet but he explained that they do the arches be using a specially made clamp that gradually tightens and perfectly shapes the arch how you want it or just folds the lip flat - whatever you want. They WILL need repainting too as the paint cracks (obviously). I had a bumper and bonnet painted and fitted and I have no doubt the job will be top notch. They also had a couple
  6. This happened to me and then my alarm went wrong - wouldn't centrally lock. I took it down to my local auto electrician and it turned out to be a loose wire/connection. £30 and good as new.
  7. I caught my exhaust on a speed bump and since then there has been a rattling noise at high revs - it's a bit like a cage rattling/scraping. I took it down to me mate who's a mechanic and he had a look drive and (ofcourse) it didn't do it. He can't see any damage but the noise/rattle keeps coming and going. Any ideas?
  8. I'll have to check the profile - can't quite remember. I did fit 9 X 16 all round originally but had problems at the front. I got a smaller rim eventually. At the front I have to use a 10mm spacer due to caliper clearence. The rears go on fine. I did have the arches rolled and pulled a little. Auto Body Styling in Sheffield are great - they can do anything for a reasonable price (for anyone in the North - I know I had problems finding someone round here!)
  9. I've just put on my original 15" a month back after running a year with 16". All I can say is, I can't wait to gat the 16" back on. I don't know if it's just my preference or what, but the car's back to average handling. On the 16" I could stick to roundabout at silly speeds and cornering is out of this world. Fantastic grip so from a standing start is much quicker too (no wheel spin). Maybe it's a lot to do with wheel width, tyres and coilovers too. I run 9 X 16" rear and 8.5 X 16 front with Toyo Proxes and FK fully adjustable coilovers. Handles like a dream (I do set my coilovers a bi
  10. Mmmmm.....not bad. Gonna have another look.
  11. Just looked on the DVLC website and actually their are loads of plates for sale that end VRG (£250). Suppose I could get an S plate ending in VRG. Would be cool to have some meaning to the numbers though.
  12. Might start checking ebay regularly. Looks like there are some good buys to be had.
  13. No, it weren't mine - wish it was my number plate though - nice touch. Can't afford a personal plate.
  14. I haven't quite decided about my Scorpion exhaust. It can be loud but iy does sound mint when floored (TVR type sound). It can get annoying on a long journey - but performance was definately improved. It does attract too much attention some times - I don't really want to be considered a boy racer - but that's difficult, I suppose, when you're driving a modified car. In a way, I like the looks of the Scorpion as I haven't seen many other twin pipe Scorpions around - and it does look good when polished (a little large maybe - not everybody's cup of tea - but does suit the car). I love the l
  15. I hadn't quite planned how to do it yet -but if I could get wipers with jets on them, that would be cool. Most VW's I've seen have relocated them to the scuttle below the windscreen but I don't know how effective they would be there. I want the looks without taking away the practicality. I will be filling the bonnet holes - but I may as well as I need a new bonnet anyway. Some one reversed into me in a car park so my current bonnet's creased. I replaced the bumper last month (could be a blessing in disguise really, I suppose). Got a lot of work on still though. [ Edited Thu Mar 04 2004,
