  1. The 2009 RubbaDubz Rolling Road day is officially happening on Saturday 6th June at Powerstation in Tewkesbury!! Each person wil be entitled to two runs during the day, with a printout of power figures at the very reasonable cost of £35 per car - a £10 deposit will be payable via Paypal prior to the event to ensure numbers given to Powerstation are accurate. Unlike previous years, we will not be restricted to 2wd, meaning all you Quattro/Syncro owners out there will be well catered for.... and speaking of catering, we'll be cooking up a storm with bacon/sausage/egg rolls and other refreshme
  2. Evening guys! Long time no see! Slowly starting to rebuild the MK2 VR now (anyone thats seen my "Project Black" thread on E38 will know), and i have nice shell to drop it all in to. As this is a long term project, i'm thinking of some nice little dabs of chrome and carefully selected powdercoat items around the engine bay/suspension areas. I just have no idea on chroming prices. Would any one on here have any rough ideas on price for, say, a front subframe/wishbones chrome plated? Cheers
  3. I wonder if Ferrari will get their just deserves for that????
  4. I'm on as cliveyp Only got Motorstorm and Colin McRae Dirt at the moment though......need to play it more! Still, add me, you never know what i might buy once i'm paid!
  5. Hey guys, been a while since i've popped up on here, but here we go! My MK2 VR has had some work over time and the plans are that she;ll be off the road this winter, probably before, to get it all completely sorted bodywork wise. When it's being done, i'm tempted to pull the engine to get the bay painted too and thought i might attack it when its out. It's had: 2.9 rebore, Corrado pistons, rings Recon head Schrick 268's enlarge throttle body (BMW flap) lightened fly Stealth remap It was all done about 12k ago now, roughly, and when being mapped managed a healthy 215bhp. Only just before xma
  6. You'll find different answers depending on who you speak to, as there's Canon lovers and Nikon lovers out there. I did some investigation before i spent the money and found the Canon 400d to be the best buy of the two, so got that. If you've nto got any lenses/other kit already, then thats what i'd recommend. I believe the Nikon doesn't have an autofocus motor built in to the body, meaning that you are more restricted on lens choice.....thats the one thing that sticks in my mind! Other than that, go to a shop and try them both. The 400d is quite a small body so might not feel comfortable t
  7. Hope it went well mate, got mine in 6 weeks time......and my nerves have already kicked in!
  8. Should be easily done Claire!! Good luck!
  9. Great pics, can't believe the state of Meadowhall......anyone notice the 3 series in the doorway of tesco......"Sorry mate, you can't park there"..... We escaped the rain quite well here, but the river is on teh way up now and causing all sorts of havoc!
  10. Sorry i didn't respond to your PM's Claire, i forgot to come back on to keep up to date with this. I won't be running the LCR on the day anyway, but i might try to get along to say hi as its been a while since i've seen you guys. Be good to see some cars getting their nuts wringed again too!
  11. Can you get me on the list please Claire, would like to see what the Leon's doing now. Might be able to get a couple more for you too, will ask on our forum if you like.
  12. Not had the joy of finding the Tesco's 99 ron any where round here yet, but after running the LCR on 97ron super, then trying Shell V-Power, i can't say i noticed any difference other than cost!
  13. slot a strip of paper between the gear teeth when trying to mesh your gearing right. Usually a fail-saef way of doing it! Bought back some memories seeing that shell though. I used to race a front wheel drive Tamiya VR6 many moons ago when my old club went to touring cars. Such fun that was!
  14. Thought i'd come on and see what the new car was Claire, and good to see the "un-modified" route was taken by you too....... I managed about 4 months before getting the Leon Custom-Coded and it was by far and away the best mod ever! Enjoy that great wad of torque, you'll never get bored!
  15. How long have you had this car mate? Seen it around a few times. Once owned by a lad in Pershore i believe?
  16. Looks great Claire! I know i'd haev had to do soooooo much to my Highline to be happy with it had i kept it! Cracking colour too IMO.
  17. Sorry this is a bit late guys! Interior is cloth, thats all they came with (although the Recaro's were still a 1250 quid option) and this one is a 210bhp model (225's started in Sept 03). And that view is the god awful one we have to put up with from the back windows of our house.....spreads for miles with no houses in the way! Lovely! Glad you guys like it, was wondering what sort of response it'd get! Much better to drive than the VR though, easy overtaking and sooo smooth!
  18. Finally got round to taking a few snaps......please excuse the dust and dirt that has settled on it.........i forgot what flat blacks were like!
  19. Cheers for the good comments guys, pics now in teh pics section!
  20. Certainly will do on both counts.....i'll still be hanging around anyway cos i think i've made a few friends on here....hope you don't mind?
  21. i was a few grand short of one of those though!
  22. Cheers mate! I was looking around for a bit, but there's absolutely nothing below 16-17k that VW do thats in the slightest bit interesting......and apparently the Leon handles better than the MK4 GTI too!
  23. Sunday will be a sad day as the VR6 noise leaves my life for the foreseeable future (and probably forever tbh), as its sold and will be collected by its new and careful owner this weekend. Then i have to wait until the following Thursday to collect...... 210bhp, climate, Recaros from and back, 26k on the clock.....and soon to be mine! Will miss tha sound of the 6, but i think the grin should stay for a bit longer!
