  1. Should i or shouldn't i?? any good on a black car? %-6
  2. sounds like a bargain to me! Well done! Really wish i had my MK2 still!!
  3. what price is a good price?? Looks a lovely motor though i have to say.
  4. ......where have you put them?? This is for the Infinity 6500cs components that i have for the front. I'm planning on putting the tweeters somewhere around the stock locations in the dash, but i can think where to hide the crossovers......
  5. The last bit that i need to get before i start installing all of my gear is speaker cable. What size are you guys running? I can't remember what i've had in the past as it's been swapped from one car to the next, but this time i left it in the car when i sold it, meaning i need to buy new. I've had a look at the cables express website as recommended by Pedrox, but they only go to 2x2.5mm2 and i'm sure i've used bigger than that in the past. %-6
  6. I must admit to not having tried what Binliner and Shail suggested as yet. Hoping to get onto it either tomorrow afternoon or over the weekend to get it sorted. Might as well wait until the ECU arrives before i deal with taking all that plastic off under the windscreen!
  7. That's what i did on my Corrado too, but the Golf ain't quite the same.
  8. oooh, i'll try that one then. I didn't mean that one initially, but now you mention it, i have seen that one going through to the scuttle area, and did wonder if it was possible to find a way through into the passenger compartment from there. Cheers guys!
  9. At last, i've palmed off the Sony CD headunit onto my mate, and i am starting to put in the stuff that has been sat around since i sold the Corrado! Anyone local to me a dab hand with MDF and boot builds?? I could do with some ideas...... This is my current list: Alpine 7998 header 2x PG QX150.4 Infinity 6500CS components (when they arrive) Kenwood 12" in box.......i so want to change that sub! Anyway, i'm putting the cables through bit at a time, but could do with a few ideas of where to locate things in the boot, so i still have useable space. I also don't have an endless budget for this
  10. Which grommet in the bulkhead have you used to pass your power wire though and how easy was it to get to?? The only one i can locate on the inside of the car seems to be the one used for the main loom through from the engine bay on the passengers side and is covered completely in the bay by an angled boot (this is the one just above the chassis leg on that side, and seems to be sealed around the cables that already pass though it). I've found one under the expansion tank where my alarm cables run through, but i can' tlocate this one inside the car at all!!
  11. Well, i've got a polished manifld on the way, so it's started!
  12. defo not the OE system as fitted to highlines etc.
  13. ha ha! Very funny Justin! I can't be serious though, my car's have never been as clean as i'm trying to get the MK3.........i've never once pulled out 9 years of mud from the wheel arches before!!
  14. I've had sick thoughts recently of extreme cleaning of parts of my car that aren't normally noticed/polishing/plating! I'm getting scared!! HELP ME! !amazed
  15. 5k easy. I paid 4k for mine, N plater with 105k on the clock.
  16. My mate has set up a forum, all for a bit of a laugh. Unfortunately it's dying off a bit at the moment, and we really want to breathe some new life into it. It has no relevance to cars/bikes/or anything really, it's just a general mish mash of fun and abuse. There is quite a few VW owning members, an the creator of the site is one too, so we do have some things in common. Anyway, if you fancy a laugh or want to give anyone any grief, come visit us. THE ASRE FORUM
  17. It's all perfectly normal! My drivers side window doesn't work either! I really should look into that.
  18. i'm not one to chuckle at ather peoples mis-fortune, especially when it could have been so much of a dangerous situation. But i do have to admit how funny it is that the place you decide to stop and find out that the thing has caught fire, is a bloomin garage forecourt!! Still gutted to hear it though mate, glad no one was hurt!
  19. ahh, that'll explain why mine don't always demist then!!
  20. 107k and i have receipt for the headgasket back at about 101k.
  21. Are they not the same as the corrado? The heaters on them are permanently on, but the temperature of the elements depends on the ambient temp. I'm sure i remember that right from the manual anyway!
  22. The traction control ain't shit hot either tbh. It's still very easy to spin up on shite tyres. Trust me, i have them!! IMO, chip's (on OBD2 cars anyway) are a waste of time unless your other mods determine the need for one. Mine has a chip and all it has done is cause majot pinking problems at higher revs. There is also another member on here with similar problems, that could be chip related. The forced induction route is one that many have gone down, and one that i was going to follow myself too. Superchargers start from around £2k new, but secondhand ones can fetch 1000-1500 quid e
