  1. I have heard of places charging more than that mike personally i charge less but jodi is pretty sound from what i have been told and thats an average sort of price im a one man band with less overheads and a smaller workshop so i can keep my prices a bit lower.one of my customers was quoted £350 just for axle bushes at a garage in cheadle where he went for m.o.t now thats a pi** take.i do them for £120-£150 depending on how much of a mission they are cos some can take a lot longer than others depending on how siezed in they are.
  2. Thats a bit of a bizarre question mate are you getting a lot of travel becasue if so your brake system probably wants looking at as generally the travel is pretty much the same as most cars or is there some other reason you want to reduce the travel ?Carl.
  3. The blue temp sensor is the one that causes the most probs as this tells the ecu what the engine temp is has as been said the 4 pin yellow one controls the fans and i think temp gauge and the other one is for the aircon system which if i recall right is generally brown and is only fitted on cars with aircon .but people go to places and get alternative aftermarket switches which can cause loads of running issues unplug the blue one when car is running and see if it makes any difference to the smoothness
  4. Usually this prob is down to throttle body needing a good clean but it could also be your idle stabilisation valve which sits just to the right of throttle body mate .Carl.
  5. pmsl sorry mate couldnt help myself any1 who knows me will tell you im a really sarcastic little b******* i dont mean to upset anybody i just cant help myself.
  6. Yep youll find that with vrs all over the country mate i dont know why but then i suppose im biased cos i specialise in them i think there easier to work on than the majority of other vehicles i suppose its cos its hard to get literature on them or mayby its because they think they are more likely to get thrashed bt i know theres are a lot of places that dont like to work on them.and if you got all them bits for that sort of price i should be coming to you for my parts youve done well there mate.
  7. Hes gutted if he has everyone else has hydraulic lifters he he he.
  8. You should be looking between £350-£400 for them parts any cheaper is a bonus any more is over the top.Carl.
  9. Right by the sounds of things the alloy rod on the back of our keylock has snapped so the key is spinning and not turning the actual lock mechanism behind it usually when this happens you can pull the lock out of the door handle have ago at this because if you can you then just need a long thin straight screwdriver and you can push it straight in where the lock should be and turn the mechanism behind to unlock door allthough sometimes the lock wont come out then you need to follow the other guys ideas.
  10. As the water pump is on the other side of the engine its upto you mate but as there not very expensive it cant hurt to do it as its a lot easier to access while the head is off.
  11. Thanks mate but when i replace it will be with a custom one that is designed specifically for my purpose but thank you anyway cheers Carl.
  12. what year is your gti mate if its an early mk3 it could be down to your distributor if its after m reg ie n onwards its less likely to be that.Carl.
  13. right im not sure excactly what you mean does it spin over really fast like there is no compression if so its more than likely your oil pump basically they wear inside so when oil is hot and thinner it doesnt pump up eneough oil to fill hydraulic lifters hence valves dont work properly and you get no compression ive had this on a few mk3 8v and 16v if this is not what its doing try explaining a little more excactly what the starting is like .Carl.
  14. You should know that jas dont you put it in your tom tom every time you visit lol he he he
  15. make sure it is the oil cooler mate because the oil pressure switches are prone for going down and pissing oil out of them and they are right next to oil cooler on oil filter housing also the oil coolers are quite cheap anyway and id just go with the standard 1 mate cos they do the job just fine.
  16. If its head gasket and you keep driving theres a good chance it will pressure up the whole engine has it gets worse and ive seen them blow every gasket and seal on engine if they get to much pressure also the rad and heater matrix dont like the pressure and can pop aswell my advise would be not to drive it because it could end up costing a lot more in the long run its cheaper to get bus or taxis for a few days until its sorted mate.
  17. could be oil from the breather dripping onto exhaust manifold aswell sometimes the rubber pipes melt due to heat specially if you have an unwrapped 6 branch or rocker cover leak onto exhuast man can cause loads of smoke aswell .
  18. I have found it seems to depend on what exhaust you run with the decat i had a miltek on 1 with a decat and it was great but ive had a scorpion 1 with a decat and it was crap both using raceland decats well thats my opinion anyway its exhaust dependent.
  19. oh and im going to be sorting out the intercooler when i can afford the aim is to have an intercooler where the number plate is have it sprayed white with numbers sprayed on it.

  21. Yep it takes 2 mins from a500 and about 5 mins from m6 i had a chat to vr6 pete today and we are gonna work out some dates to see what gets the most interest oh and down the side of my yard is a little strip of straight road that goes to a dead end which is really good for having some fun on if your interested in that sort of thing and like i said of an evening its pretty dead round there and we are not close to any houses so we wont upset anyone and we can make as much noise as we like.we have had a meet there before a couple of years ago and i can get the kettle on for the odd brew aswell an
  22. These are actually 2 year old pics i originally built for some1 else then bought off of them a couple of months ago when they got bored with it though i dont know how and yes i have pics of the complete build from standard to how it is now and i have loads of plans firstly im picking up the eaton charger tomoz then when i have a bit more funds i need to sort a better diff cos traction is my biggest issue in the wet it will spin up in all gears allthough il prob get the body work sorted before the diff because its all original paint still and could do with refresh as it aggravates me my aim is
