  1. Cheers Kev I'll have a look for the O ring in the morning and get the VAG-COM fault codes and post them for you. I wish I knew what VW were up to, the problem now is I have no faith in them finding this stalling problem !!!!!!!! jules
  2. VW already had my engine no. so I gave them the MAF no. this morning and they rang me back later to say the one they ordered is correct after all ! They said they couldn't fit the air box yesterday because it would not link securely on to the MAF ? Does anyone know how it links together, is there a clip or something or does it just push together. My MAF is the earlier version, around 1993 I think. If its so simple I will do the job myself, I just need to get the ECU reset then and the fault codes erased. I also have the fault codes from VAG-COM if anyone out there is an expert ? Help me out gu
  3. Following on from my post about stalling my car went in to VW today to have a standard air box fitted. The box they ordered for me going on the information that the engine is from a from a 2.9 VR6 Corrado, would not secure on to the air flow meter. They don?t seem to have a clue which air box I need, so can anyone help me out ? It seems to me that the box depends on which kind of air meter you have fitted, or do I need one from a Mk3 VR6 with mine being a Mk3 Cabriolet ? Also further to the stalling as Kev suggested I had the exhaust and o2 probe checked, and they were both fine. jules ~
  4. Do you think VW will carry out the test Kev has suggested if I print out the details, as they are fitting the standard air box for me next week? I haven't really used VW too much and know some places don't like to be given advice !! Plus I have very little faith on garages in gereral anyway ! jules
  5. Its an OB1 and word for word the printout on my sales document said "checked for stalling, checked all connection to sensors and checked engine electrics with 5051, reset all fault codes (5 in total) rosd tested, only one fault still in the memory (o2 sensoe exceeding limit)" I'm glad to see you got yours sorted Ben, I wish mine had been cured so simply !!!! I forgot to clean that little box, I think its the silencer, was it easy to do ? Standard air box is going in next week anyway so I'll take it from there I suppose once its been on VAG-COM again. jules
  6. S*** forgor to include the VAG-COM Fault (o2 sensor exceeding limit) jules
  7. Finally got my car on VAG-COM at VW to try and find my stalling problem. The fault displays , has anyone come across this fault reading on VAG-COM before ????? I have been advised to get rid of the induction kit and go back to the standard box. Failing that it could well be back to the MAF as I have cleaned the thottle body, ISV and checked for vacuum leaks as advised. Can anyone suggest where I can pick up a MAF that would be cheaper than VW. I aslo spoke to a geezer called Ben (I think) at Inters on the Saturday at the club stand with a similar problem - hope this might help him and if
  8. Rang VW and they don't do an exchange on the air flow meter - in fact a new one is over £300 !!!!!!
  9. After speaking to an ex Dubsport mechanic he has told me that it is 70% certain to be a faulty Air Flow Meter. Apparently it is a common fault on these engines and can be very difficult to find, as other people are finding ! I'm gonna try and clean the Throttle Body & Valve, Idle Valve and check for any vacuum leaks. If that fails chances are it looks like it will be the Air Flow Meter so I'll try one off another VR6 engine that does not stall before shelling out £160 for a new one. &| jules
  10. I've just brought a Mk3 Golf Convertible with a 2.9 VR6 engine in. It runs brilliantly but I have noticed that when the engine warms up a little it occasionally stalls when braking to stand still. I've had it plugged in and the only fault found was a faulty crank shaft sensor which was replaced, and the idle valve cleaned. The problem is however still there and looking about the web at some technical sites there seems to be a bit of a blip on these engines when it comes to this problem. Can anyone shed some light on this for me and hopefully tell me how to go about solving it. Some of the sol
