    My favourite option at the moment is a recon 2.9 bottom end im not interested in forged pistons, my head was rebuilt so just need the block.Im keeping the car.What do you think? Does anyonev know where i can get a recon bottom end from??

    could be the linkage on top of the box its the bit that the cables connect to mines crap

    they fit fine although u may not be able to fit the heatshaild its a great mod imho

    the headgasket is the usual cause of this ps water temp staying at 90 degrees is exactly what its supposed to do

    no comp test but its started bein a bit smokey when cold (started yesterday) and its using oil still pulls like a good un i think its in earlyish stages but have been reliably informed the rings are on there way out

    are 2nd hand pistons ok ie bore a knackered 2.8 block to 2.9 get new rings and old 2.9 pistons?

    i beleive the inlet manifold is the reason the 2.9 is qouted higher bhp it flows beter at high revs

    yes its a popular mod on its own itl probably just bugger the fuelling up due to overfuelling but iirc on big power vrs its recomended for the extra fuelling

    so it uses the brakes instead of pulling fuelling/dropping throttle?

    i think my piston rings are showing early signs of wear the head was rebuilt 8-9k ago new valve seals chains tappets and cams etc the car runs absolutely spot on (i mean REALLY nice smooth as hell and pulls clean from tickover it sure as hell isnt losing any power (14.6 1/4 mile tells me that) its using more oil than id like prob 1l every 2.5-3k (it was using 1l per 1k but new oil pump 1500 miles ago settled it down) i went to london saturday 400 mile round trip at rather high speed for long periods and it used 1/2 a litre since having the pump done iv not seen any puffs of smoke in the mirror

    was it a type r? its a known fault with them the rear brakes are sensitive to heat and expand to much then contract after the handbrake is on allowing it to loosen off
