There is definately play there, with the wheel off I can pull the disc so it contacts the caliper. I thought it may be a bearing issue (or a hub issue) but its odd as this problem has only shown up after I have centered the steering rack? Could there be another reason for the sound to do with ARB/steering rack? Its definately not rubbing on the arch as I have raised the car significantly up and its as bad as ever -
I have an interesting problem which I am hoping someone can help me get to the bottom. I recently chnaged my steering wheel, and had 4 wheel laser alignment afterwards. I noticed that it only took 1 and 1/4 turns to full lock left and 1 and 3/4 right. So I removed the steering wheel, centered the steering rack and put the steering wheel back on. Ever since then everytime I am turning left quickly, or on full lock to the left there is a HORRIBLE scraping sound. It appears to be the brake disc touching the caliper on closer isnepction, but this wasnt there before. I have r32 discs and uprated ca

I have the AC controls, but the car had a dash transplant from a cab or highline model. The bulkhead doesnt have the holes so it cant be an ac model. Ill have to open the windows and sunroof! lol

Hi guys what are the deifferences in the bulk head between A/C and non versions? Has anyone got any pictures? I was told my vr6 has had the A\C system stripped out but I want to be sure before I start to re-install it, and I thought I might eb able to tell if it had A\C previously by looking at the bulkhead

When I bought my VR6 I was told the air con system was stripped out by the previous owner to reduce some weight. It appears all the controls and loom is there in the interior cabin. I have bought a compressor, all the piping and the rad thats needed for re-install but I am trying to find out if I am missing anything. What electrical components for the air con are needed in the engine bay? If anyone can give me a rough guide how to re-install this id be eternally grateful (as my local VW specialist wants to charge 400 for the privalege

All the catch tanks I see listed for a VR6 have 15mm piping - will this be an issue? Thanks -
It does quieten down a LOT when its warmed up, to a point where only a light ticking can be heard from within the cabin (no soundproofing I guess). I am using 10w40 at present. Thanks

Hard to say, but slightly more noticeable from the drivers side of the engine. I just recorded a video clip of it on my phone, starting from cold can I email it to you?
-
Actually its more of a ticking sound lol

Has anyone got a sound clip of a VR^ engine starting up from cold? Mine makes a tapping sound for a few minutes - nothing major just want to make sure all is ok. Its juts had brand new lifters put in and the chains were changed last year and seem fine. Wondered if this was normal on tickover - plus my bonnet has no soundproofing lol
