  1. I think the 9th would be better guys. Parents are up that weekend and I am off to Santa Pod for the Sunday.
  2. How have they done it mate. Have they sealed the arches?
  3. You need to block it all off mate. As I mentioned on the first post I think they are shite anyway! Smelly things!
  4. I'm sure you got a warrantee for all the work you have had doe no? Standard 10,000miles or 12months is essential. Have you had all the internals replaced with the re-build? Shells ect? As mine was completely rebuilt I had everything that may have worn replaced. Including oil and water pump. I wouldn't have thought it should be smoking at all and deffo no noises. My advice would be, don't let anyone touch the engine apart from the guys who built it.
  5. I posted about this last week! Read the tread!! http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?105202
  6. Oil filter housing if I'm looking at the right bit mate
  7. Diven the MK5 GTI and MK5 R32 both great cars in their own ways. R32 drives and pulls like its on rails right from 2,000rpm. Still prefer the MK4 R32 (god have I just said I like the MK4??!!) It's the only MK4 I have ever liked the look of.
  8. For a proper job: Get some Frostage!! http://www.frost.co.uk/productList.asp?catID=27
  9. Gonna be sweet mate. You may wanna drop the size of the pics though mate, I'm sure they are slowing the server down!!
  10. Another frankenstein's monster in the making!! 'She's ALIVE, ALIVE!!!!'
  11. Keep us posted mate. Nice to see another VR being rescued!!
  12. You'll deffo find that if you run standard shox with just lowering or chopped springs your ride will be nasty and it wont handle correctly, you will probably buckle a rim or two and more than lightly you will punch a shock rod through its casing. Not to mention that the car will look stupid bouncing around all over the road and so will you smacking your head on the headlining all the time! If you lower the car by more than 30mm you will have to invest in propper shox mate. You see, standard shocks have long piston rods in them and they wont take bottoming out. Just get some cheap ones Pi or so
  13. So Kev, I was wondering if I needed a some 2.9 bits but you reckon otherwise eh? What do you suggest I do, just settle for a set-up, map and exhaust?
  14. Very true. Come to think of it I had the cuffin rainbow coming out of my exhaust!!
  15. I'd agree with you there fella. I reckon 200bhp is being slighty over optimistic. I'm just hoping it's now healthy, will last and with the re-map and de-cat it will be up a few hp.
  16. I reckon I was considerably down on power due to alot of compression loss. (glad I saved the embarassment of a rolling road session!!) I'll get it dyno'd next month at Stealth before and after and see what happens. VR Rados are around 190-200 ish arn't they?
  17. You'll give in and get some nice polished rims mate
  18. Pistons were around £650 and the re-bore was £25 a bore no matter what size I wanted them. I did consider 3.0l but I was advised (especially by both Dale and Vince) that 3.0 is really too far to go and way too close to the water jackets. If I had money to burn and didn't mind a new block every now and then hey I suppose I could have!!!
  19. Thought I'd fill you all in as to what has happened to the VR. Well - It's all back on the road now and it's completely transformed. Thanks to Dale from DB autos in Plymouth I now have a completely re-built engine. Initially I assumed the top end was worn such as guides and stems and like a good boy, on instruction, he totally rebuilt the head for me at the time he asked if I wnated him to check the pistons but stupidly I gambled (due to finances) and it didn't pay off!! (check the pic of one of my old pistons No.6. Note the scoring due to slap and worn bores, amazing from a 65k engine!) Now 1
  20. You should be able to tell if it is greyish black smoke and if you are loosing any oil. The smoke you are talking about could be over fueling but at high rpm mine was blow-by as the oil was being blown passed the oil and compression rings due to bore and piston ware. Have a read of my post in a bit, i'm going to take some shots of my old pistons and post a little note.
  21. Could be rings i'm afraid. I have posted many threads regarding my VR smoking. I initially thought it was guides and stem seals so had my head re-built. Three days later (read my old post) it started smoking really badly on the overrun and when I drove it over 4500rpm. To cut a long story short I've now had my bottom end completely re-built and bored to 2.9 with forged pistons and its chuffin mental!! I'd get a compression test done and this should show any nastys. Can I ask what colour the smoke is? Blue smoke bad, black soot is probably fueling.
  22. I've just bought a Veyron, top motor but sluggish around 205mph. I'll get some pics... This is me just after a 200mph run. I went so fast all the fat in my body ran to the surface of my skin. Can you see the wrinkles due to the G-force? Looking to trade it in for Simons VR. I'm sure he'll want a bit of cash though.
  23. Read my posts fella. That'll learn ya something!!!
  24. Got the part I need from Ford and had a few funny looks from the guy behind the counter. He asked me how I got the part number as a guy had asked the same thing a while ago and he couldn't find it for love nor money. Ahh don't you just love forums?!!! Cheers for all your help guys, all nice and new now!
  25. Even with the over-bore i've not really noticed a difference tbh. BUT.. If I use the throttle, it's bye-bye unleaded!!
