  1. What you need is 'Colour Magic' I swear by it. Again like pete says, Its all in the elbow grease. Put the polish on with a damp cloth, let it dry and buff off with a lint free cloth. Job done!! Twice a month if your a little inthusiastic, if your me, once a week!!!
  2. Ok guys , here we go... My VRs only done 55k and its all verified with the main dealer s/h - although you could argue that the previous owner pulled the speedo plug on top of the gearbox everytime he did motorway miles in between services. Anyway, I had an Inspection 1 last week and everything was fine. Included in the inspection was a compression test and again this was fine, all fluid levels were also fine etc. Now my car doesn't smoke at all under acceleration be it hard or normal but if I coast down a long hill in say 3rd or 4th and floor it at the bottom it smokes for a couple of secs wit
  3. Us Graphic designers have the best taste! I think I'll get mine polished if I can't find the rims I like for mine.
  4. Can you believe it, 25mph?!! I'd like to know how fast that R5 hit me up the arse. We were racing (naturally he was behind me!) We were approaching a speed camera so I broke from 60-70 down to 40 and he broke late, skidded like a bastard (no ABS) and hit me up the arse. So I haven't got a clue how fast he was going. Good thing was, was that I wasn't on the breaks when he hit me so all the energy just pushed me forwards. Couldn't have been that fast as he just scrached my bumber. Were you stationary when he hit you Mark? I'm just interested to see how are accidents were similar and how lucky I
  5. It is my car Claire and i'll really try and sort out coming, i'm designing a magazine at the moment and have to go to the Monaco boat show to promote it at the end of September. So I mat be up to my Sunroof in deadlines! I'll be in touch.
  6. I'd like to come to this guys but my only concern is if my VRs clean enough. Justin, your engine bay looks cleaner than my Calvins, I don't wanna turn up and look a prat. My motor is clean, but just how clean does it need to be?!!
  7. Can anyone help me with servicing. I bought my VR with full VW S/H and its now on the Annual inspection 1 (INOI) I called my local VW and they are quoting £180, so I thought I'd call Stealth and they are quoting £200 for a full service. Two weeks ago I did an oil and filter change myself so all i'm looking for really is the service stamp in the service book. VW said they have to change the oil as part of the service anyway and wont do anything otherwise. What should I do?

    VR6 Dilemma

I did contemplate buying a cossy instead of my VR. But you need silly money to keep the damn things on the road! I helped a mate of mine build a Westfield a few years ago. He bought the kit just after he rote his cossy off. And yes, you guessed it, the motor went in the westfield. Proper grin factor guys. It was shit top end, but needless to say the damn thing stayed with a Fireblade one day on a sliproad to 110mph then the Blade said goodbye. It was funny seeing this guy look over his shoulder at 80 and do a double take! That motor was a bloody nightmare though, it was in and out of tuning co

    VR6 Dilemma

Oh dear! That is a real dilema. I had a 280bhp RS Turbo once (I know it was a Ford, I know. Please don't give me grief!) But I spent a fortune on it and I did love it. I moved in with my ex and I got constant grief from her about it. In the end I ended up selling it because of her, and she fucked up one of the 17ich Azev A's parking it the day before I sold it. I regreted selling it ever since. Needless to say we split up. My current missus loves the VR (or should I say she tollerates it). Doesn't like me racing M3's through lanes though! If the griefs still bad in a month or so and you are se
  10. Bloody expensive though. I'll get it done, don't wanna screw me tyres. Does anyone know where or who would trade my rims for some 17s? Looks like all the boys have 17s and I'd love a set. Can't see someone with 17s trading down to 16s though. Maybe a shop or something?
  11. Cheers boys! How much do you reckon it'll cost?
  12. Guys, about 3 weeks ago I fitted Konis and 40mm springs on my car. I took it down to a wheel and tyre place (GUPPA P) back at parents (300 miles away) in Plymouth to get the tracking and camber done. Now this place boasts that they have state of the art lazer alignment gear and they told me they could do the tracking but the camber wasn't adjustable. What the hell shall I say to another wheel place (in Leeds) to explain that the camber is adjustable? I know it is, cos I fitted the damn things! GUPPA P, point blank argued, that the camber wasn't adjustable. I don't do much mileage anyway so I

    Rusty VR's

My names James and I took advantage of the good weather and repaired my rusty cills!! Didn't take too long actually. I bought the pearl paint from VW £12 for base and laquer. I did find that the paint from the tin did have alot more metal flake than the car. Looks ok though but I reckon it may come back after a shite normal winter. Next time I'll get the whole lot cut out.
  14. Olly, my friend, how do you find your inlet manifold? Did you get it put on or was it on the car? And I bet its a bloody nightmare changing the plugs! [ Edited Mon Aug 09 2004, 04:50PM ]
  15. I'm a Graphic Designer mate. I have a regular magazine I produce. Just been to Africa for a month working though, pretty amazing! It ment I could pay for Springs and shocks quite easily! What job you looking for? [ Edited Sat Aug 07 2004, 10:52PM ]
  16. I was wondering what motor to get without spending a fortune that had good performance there isn't anything else thats like a well built VR. I lost a lot of money on my last car a E36 M3. Never again, I got through 3 coil packs and I couldn't drive it to work because I couldn't park the damn thing their. Work at home now and clean my car too much!! 17. Get this, I put a deposit on it on the Friday, when I went to pick it up, the guy had, had 15 phone calls over the weekend. [ Edited Sat Aug 07 2004, 09:06PM ]
  18. Polished my inlet manifold today, got sore thumbs! Looks good though, the missus can do her makeup when I ask her to change the oil now!
  19. Anni, I found mine 5 miles down the road, I couldn't believe it! I'd been looking for ages and was willing to travel. People are asking top money for shitters, your right. I've seen ones with over 100k for 5-6 grand, whats going on? Makes me feel good though, I paid £5,250 for mine, admittidley its not a Highline but still its only got 52k on the clock FWVSH and all old MOTs and TAX disks.
  20. I haven't got a clue mate, I didn't put them on. Buy em off me if you like, I want 17s!
  21. Thanks buddy, can you believe that they are Audi A3 Sport rims! The guy I bought the car off bought them brand new with tyres one week before I bought it. They are 16s but I'd really like 17s, so I'd like to find someone to do a deal. I'm glad I lowered it 40mm, when I took those pics I'd just fitted the shocks and springs, so it was just setteling down. The mudflaps scrape on speed bumps now!
  22. Here you go guys, finally done a quick scan of the pics of my motor. Bigger rims I reckon next. Anyone wanna buy mine? [ Edited ] [ Edited ]
