  1. Now thats not much bang for buck!
  2. If I had enough money to paint a car every two months, I wouldn't be driving a 10 year old Mk3 Golf thats for sure! lol Let alone have the time to prep the car for paint every 6 weeks! lmfao!!
  3. Wont be the coil pack, the engine would still turn over mate. Gotta be starter motor or battery imo. Are you getting dash lights?
  4. Looking good fella. A marked improvement. Always wondered about the colour coded front spoiler and sills though buddy, cheap as chips from VW mate and would make an improvement IMO Looking much better
  5. Most show and shiners take everything tbh. But I suppose it depends how far away you live from the show you're going to really and how much you're doing to your car. Take as much as you want to use to make your car look as good as you want!
  6. I'd like to hear the owner discuss his reasons for painting it that colour, (or should I say 'Colours')!! Bit too low for me as well I'm afraid. Jeees, I'm sorry but the VR's gonna have to go soon, far too cheap to get hold of and spoil IMO.
  7. Completely different set up on a Bora if I'm correct
  8. It'll be fine to drive to your choice of tuner as long as you don't run it over 3-4,000 rpm. You'll find it just wont want to rev anyway and if you kept doing it, you'd melt something! As for the ecu, deffo get a custom remap, but i'd advise and good exhaust if you don't already have one before you map the car. If you have the choice, do as much to the engine as you are thinking of doing before you have it mapped, then you will get the most out of everything you have bolted to it and it will save you money in having it mapped again. I've got a 6 branch sat in my garage and not fitted it yet be
  9. Best to loose the cat mate. You will need to find a friendly MOT tester though or you'll be swapping it back for a day once a year
  10. No car I've ever seen on a dyno makes peak power on or near the limiter. As soon as it hits it, it tumbles like a brick. Funny how I don't see sports car drivers using their limiters on gear changes. Unnecessary abuse of an engine imo.
  11. My injectors max out at 5850 rpm and it starts to lean right out. Max power on an NA VR is much further down than the red line, unless you've got wild cams, head work and throttle bodies! lol
  12. JESUS!!! Those days are a distant memory!!
  13. No worries mate, Freudian slip I honestly can't see how Strictlys can do it for that price, it seems silly cheap with all that included. Who have you been speaking to? Is it Jay (jaymac)?
  14. Who form PhatDubs would this be then?
  15. It's bizarre, I haven't seen him log on to MSN for ages. He usually gives me a heads up every now and then. I reckon last Sunday every month may be a good idea. Thing is the last Sunday this month is this Sunday, so it may be a bit short notice to some and I'm supposed be at a BBQ this Sunday. Discuss?
  16. Why don't you hang around and learn about what Vince is doing to your car? He may even ask you to help him. If any issues arise, you will be around. He's a helpful guy and will explain what he is doing and why it works.
  17. Stunning car, wouldn't part with the money for it though. If I was a collector - well, that would be a different matter!!
  18. Actually it may be a good idea to merge this with the edition38 meet at Roundhay Park to make it a little more regular for people to meet up.
  19. Anyone interested at all? Seeing as the VW Festival was a complete mud fest!!
  20. Take a look a where he's from Pete, I wouldn't fancy paying the carriage! lol
  21. Keep the arch trim off mate. Later spec VR's (and yours is a later spec one) never had them and look much cleaner IMO, but it's personal pref in the end I suppose. See what you mean about the rims fella. Looks as though it will tidy up well though. Look forward to seeing it come together
  22. Hi mate, it's pointless keeping it the same 2.8 bore, if you need a rebore, as they need honing anyway and a straight forward hone sometimes isn't the best solution. If you're gonna rebore it, a 2.9 bore is a no brainer, and it wont cost you any more. The only thing that will be slightly more expensive is your choice of pistons, I went for forged just because I was going to Turbo it, but I supercharged it instead. Forged pistons are lighter and take far more heat. I also uprated all my rod and head bolts. (oh and if you keep it NA, induction sounds even wilder on a 2.9! ) Oh and take no notic
