  1. Bit's in oil doesn't sound good mate! Dealer's are a waste of time imo. Take it to a specialist. Does it make the noise on idle or when you rev it?
  2. If Vince fitted it and it's not running properly take it back!!! Once you touch it, he'll wash his hands of any work he's done and bill you again.
  3. Completely different car IMO, you can't even compare the two!
  4. It seems Pete has gone a little quiet at the moment, as he took over the Peacock after me. I'll be up for a little meet if anyones interested.
  5. Sanky, when I was following you I saw no smoke what so ever. Once it starts REALLY smoking, then you need to worry. Seems to be running fine mate. I wouldn't worry about it too much yet fella.
  6. If it's charged, higher octane all the way. Mine pinks like crazy under heavy throttle with 95.

    Bolts

I've got some if you get desperate.
  8. I'd go emerald but I'd ask Jon (owner of Binliner's old syncro) as he is running emerald management. I assume you know he's turbo'd that now. However, I know that he had a massive fueling issue and melted a piston but I'm unsure if he's got to the bottom of it yet, last I heard it may have been a dodgy injector.
  9. Gutted for you mate. The only way for you to get top money for the VR is to one, of had the car valued when you took out the policy. Or two, when you have the damage assessed, make sure you are present and chat to the assessor. They may give you top book for the car, but I highly doubt it. I believe Glasses guide no longer lists the VR6 (haven't got one to hand) but top dollar retail is around the £4k mark and Private Good I reckon around the £3-k and under. The assessor will try and rape you if you don't stand your ground, reject the first offer if you have no choice, they may just surprise
  10. Now then buddy, hope all is well. I was speaking to Carlo (northernvr_6) with regards to mappers up here and here is a sample off the conversation we had - it may be of some use wayne schofield is very close to us both pal .... hes over in milnrow near rochdale his place is called chipwizards - he jus mapped my supercharger on the vr an did it from scratch - hes done a few of em b4 , he maps all dubsports , ian birchs , jeff webbs , awesomes non apr jobs etc even does bmw motorsports track day beasts anyway lol hes a sound geeza an if u av any issues again smile.gif he da man! he maps cars th
  11. How much thinner is it? I can't really see it making much of a difference tbh.
  12. Unless you bought a spacer gasket specifically designed to lower compression (not higher, as increasing the distance between the head and the block increases volume of a cylinder thus reducing the compression ratio under NA ignition), it will not have effected the compression ratio what so ever, a triple layer gasket is designed to crush and theoretically create a better seal than a single piece one. I can only assume that whoever timed up the car after fitting the gasket may have misjudged it. VR's are renowned for being difficult to time up. A degree or so duration at the wrong time will cau
  13. If it was just gas flowed mate, I really don't see any need for any kind of tuning. However if you had three angle valve seats, bigger valves, wild cams etc. then yes a map would need to be done. I would only guess that the engineers have performed a mild port flow, which will help the engine breathe better and you may notice some response improvement.
  14. Very bizarre question and not worth answering imo
  15. 3.0 is considered a little too much as it's rather close to the water jackets. Saying that US Turbo'd VR's seem to have little issues running 600hp with a 3.0 bore. Mind you, how often do they pop?!! I've 2.9 bored mine with forged pistons, no issues at all. If you want to go bigger I'd suggest a 2.9 bore with a stroker crank, get your checkbook out though
  16. I feel for you buddy and something worries me a little. Luckily (touch wood and all that) I have been with Adrian Flux now for years now (well over 6) without a claim - HOWEVER.... My brother was insured with Adrian Flux, who as you may know are only an intermediary and his policy was with Highway. He was living up here in Leeds last year working for me on a work placement and he had some deeker pull out in front of him on a wet road and as a result he hit their quarter panel, the dillon tried saying it was his fault and my brother had no end of hassle with Adrian Flux passing him too and frow
  17. Try this : http://www.dansperformanceparts.com/ Either that or its a hub conversion as far as I know,
  18. Mount Batten I believe. My sister works at the yacht haven
  19. Why would you want to do that? Especially as stainless exhaust options are so cheap these days.
  20. Basically a bleed valve is a rather unregulated way to pile extra boost (or reduce the signal pressure to the wastegate). In my experience it's a little bit of a quick fix. Years ago, a friend of mine decided to add one to a R5 GTT and destroyed it. I can appreciate an engine can be built to take a bleed valve, but a little bit dangerous if you get boost greedy!! No biggie really
  21. Looks wicked mate. Don't like the look of that bleed valve though :s
  22. Well, if some of you had done your research this charge cooler was developed by Z-Engineering and in my opinion is worth way more than the £200 it went for last night! Proper good bit of kit and rare as rocking horse shit!!! Gutted I missed it, got engrossed in wedding preperations.
