  1. I spoke to Vince at Stealth, he said he has had loads of problems with VR6 clutches. He thinks there are a couple of makes that are causing the problem, but the makers don't want to know. It might be a new clutch and fork that will be the cure, he said it shouldnt cause any problems if left alone (apart from being annoying!!)
  2. My car is doing this, there was a thread about it a while ago. I believe it is something to do with a bushing, possibly could be the fork. The thread said it needs a different lube?? Sounds like a box off job unfortunately...
  3. Been there done that, i recommend taking the drivers seat out if you try to make access easier.
  4. I have been using Ferodo DS pads in my Mk2 16v track day car, they work very well. Got them from Motorsport World, a bit cheaper than DS2500's and probably just as good on the road.
  5. Hi, looks good :-) Haven't been on here for a while, been doing my Mk2 16V track car thing. I will probably have to give it or my VR6 up sometime, been thinking of keeping the VR6 and doing some more mods to use for track days. I haven't seen a Mk3 at a track day yet, would be a bit different to the usual (and expensive) stuff. They are probably a good base now they have come down in price, as long as the car is in good nick first!
  6. Hi haven't been on for a while, here is a link to a thread i posted on my modded airbox http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?149364
  7. Hi, here is a mod i have done to my standard airbox. I have replaced the panel with a K&N, and removed the trumpet in the lid. This makes for a nice induction noise imo while retaining some heat protection for the filter. When the trumpet is removed, it leaves a right angled edge on the exit of the airbox towards the airflow meter. I'm not an expert, but i thought a smoother inlet would be better. I got a new ali inlet normally used for a cai and modded it to fit inside the airbox lid. It wasn't easy but it should hopefully smooth the airflow in and give me 0.1 extra bhp
  8. If you have got the tools and know what to look for, it is worth trying to get some WD40 or similar on the caliper carrier bolts and the one that retains the ABS sensor. If the retaining bolt shears off it is a mare, as for the carrier bolts i dread to think
  9. You ideally need an uprated shock to go with the springs, as the spring rate is increased 20ish percent.
  10. I got my code reader from Gendan, if you wanted to buy one you could give them a ring?
  11. Sorry for your loss, know how you feel. I had a mint 205 1.9GTI years ago, someone drove into it during the night and pissed off. They smashed the whole side in, i was so gutted. Lucky i was fully comp. I hope they get whats coming to them, they could learn from Earl Hickey about Karma :-(
  12. After flicking through the golf+, i noticed that oem parts do a 315mm upgrade for mk4's. This consists of the discs, carriers and pagid fast road pads for £318. The carriers are Anniversary/TT225 in red, i guess these are ok?? If you have 288mm calipers you will need to add the 6mm spacers and longer bolts? How does this price compare to dealer?

I have just read that not only is the new 250+bhp S3 around the corner, they have announced a 350bhp RS3! Here is a pic i found at a well known Auto magazine.

I second that, prefer it to the new R32 to be honest :S
