Tyres for those not keen on stretched look...
stuey replied to stuey's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Thanks for the replys guys, when i say stretched i don't mean in an extreme way. The Falkens seem quite narrow compared to say my old Toyos on the treaded area. The sidewalls taper more so they look more stretched than the Toyos would on the same width of wheel. They would be ideal for someone running 17"s with arch clearance issues imo. To be honest looking at the fronts again i don't know if i could get away with a 215 or a very square sidewall. Perhaps i will compare my tyres to a Toyo and a Yokohama and see how i stand. -
Hi guys, i have got some 7.5x17" (ET32) Audi six spoke rims for my car recently with Falken tyres. They were a very good price, but to be honest i'm not keen on the stretched look. The Falkens are pretty narrow (205/40/17) and i can't get used to them this way. I would either like to swap them for another brand that will give me a squarer sidewall, or poss go for 215/40/17 instead. My car is only lowered 25mm as it needs to be practical so i'm not too worried about rubbing. I found a pic in an old Golf+ mag of a car on TT Comps with Yoko A539's that look pretty square, anyone else got some ide

[moved] abs f**ked? HELP...
stuey replied to Luke's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
To do the rear sensor if it is stuck in (most likely), you need to undo the caliper and tie it back against the shock, remove the caliper carrier (bolts are allen head 7mm?) that are probably frozen. Once that is off, remove the disc after undoing the wheel bearing nut. That gives you access to the sensor. The 4mm allen bolt retaining it will need to be removed, get some wd40 on it before you start and pray it doesn't snap off. After that the sensor should knock out, then put everything back with correct torque settings. Not easy if you haven't got the gear, done both my rears now 8o| -
I've got the In.pro mk4 headlights, seem good quality although they aren't cheap, cost me £165 fron Venom. Oh yeah, don't expect the bulbs to last long, one of the headlight bulbs lasted 5 minutes. No joy from the suppliers either...
-
I just bought some In.pro mk4 looks for my car from Venom, who send the order to Eurostyling (distributor?) for despatch. I got them ok, fitted ok. Used them for the first time last night, the nearside bulb lasted less than 5 mins!! When i rang Venom they said try Eurostyling which i did. I told them what happened, they said "In.pro supply bulbs as a courtesy, so you don't have to buy any", came across as don't complain and think yourself lucky. When i said i didn't think it was very good, he said a bulb only costs £2, and they don't have any to replace it anyway. I got one from Halfords, the

Hi guys, have done a search on aligning my new headlights myself but couldn't find anything. I have also googled but found nothing useful so far. Any ideas??
-
Looks good, i do like those wheels! Did you use a brush and go carefully or did you remove them? I want to do mine soon.

I ordered my lights and fogs etc yesterday, headlights turned up today from Venom and are on the car and the fogs/indicators are at the parcelforce depot waiting for me I wanted to go to GTI but my mate got married that weekend and i was best man so that was me out. Like i said, the show and the cars were great, just disappointed by the trade stuff.

ABS light on all the time.
stuey replied to CanadianVR6's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
The fronts are about £30-35 and the rears £50-60, when i did my rear one last year. The rears can be a bit of a sod to get out 8o| -
Went to the show for the first time today, a good venue with some superb cars on show and plenty of people to admire them. I went with a shopping list of some MK4 look headlights, smoked indicators/fogs, new front splitter and perhaps some caliper paint and came back with... nothing!! I'm sure they can't take everything they have got with them, perhaps they sold out on Saturday despite the rubbish weather i don't know. I would have thought i would have got something, and i'm a bit gutted tbh. All i got was a card and "we can mail order it to you", but i wanted to see the gear and check it out

I have got a Gendan code reader, not a full vag-com but can read codes and clear them. I'm near Pinner and Ruislip in north west London.

Parts help please, BERU or not BERU?
stuey replied to jpc's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I believe Beru are part of Bosch, they had Beru stuff in the display cabinets at the Bosch head office. -
I think they forgot the 1 at the start of the price, £1350 sounds more like it from a stealers!

Looks good, might i ask what wheels you have, poss OZ??

I think it is a 5mm allen key or driver...

I would love to track day my car, i have been a couple of times with my mate and his mk2 16v and it's great. I prefer to see cars in action to be honest, but i'm worried about knackering my car doing one. It is my only transport, having just gone two weeks without it because the thermostat jammed i know i can't do without if something goes wrong. I guess people prefer different things, but i personally would go to more shows with cars running than not. I had a great day at Goodwood recently, that has a mix of show and track that i like
-
Thanks, i will pop in and have a look
-
Hi guys, i have just got my car back after having the thermostat changed, and i was wondering about how you check the mixture strength of the coolant? I know it is the pink G12 mix, but is there a ratio of water to coolant, or is it just pure coolant? How do you test it to make sure it is correct? It did lose a lot through this episode! Thanks for any advice

Probably lost Head Gasket, how much??
stuey replied to stuey's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Thats pretty much what happened to me, except i have got RAC. Started ringing them at 7.45pm, got home at midnight (only 7 miles from home!). They eventually agreed to follow on tow it to the phirm, Ian sorted it, same thing jammed thermostat. I am picking it up tomorrow, they think everything is fine. I am going to be paranoid for ages now though -
