    What you need to do is look at what happens with the increased performance. Most of the time the oil gets hotter and therefore the oil gets thinner. If the oils is too thin or too degraded by the harder use, the engine will suffer more wear or even seize. Often, especially with things like cams, it's fine to use a better quality oil, not necessarily a thicker one. Turbos and superchargers may lead toa thicker and better quality oil, due to the temperature increase, but it's all dependant on how modded it is and what you use it for
