  1. Fair enough, the bodyshape just looked very very similar so I assumed it was based on the Vento.
  2. Roundabouts? That'll be where you're going wrong then...
  3. If you think the Corrado is the worst car for handling out of the Rad, Golf and Vento, I have to ask what in God's name you were doing with the Corrado? I'm not a huge Corrado fan but they're one of the best handling front wheel drive cars about. Between a Golf and a Vento, I'd say the Golf. Never driven a Vento, but I used to tool about in an old Seat Toledo of the same age which looks pretty much the same car, and almost killed myself a few times in situations where my Golf would've been well under control. It's all relative though, you need to compare like for like, ie, same suspension set
  4. That Wires4Cars place do wires with chrome sleeving IIRC.
  5. It's going to be badged Golf TSI when it comes out. I'm seriously considering getting one. 170bhp, get it chipped, it'll fly and still have great fuel economy.
  6. He's probably scamming other people to give you lot your money back. And when the other lot want their money back, he'll scam someone else.
  7. It's a Rover? You do realise that while you're planning to sell it for a profit, the head gasket is going to go? They always do on Rover turbos...
  8. I'm an accountant for a company in the oil industry.
  9. Or more likely, UltimateTune kidnapped him and sold him into slavery so they could pay their bills.
  10. Have we heard back from the guy with the Corrado? I hope he's not in jail or something....
  11. Phone the garage and tell them, they worked on the car so they'll know more than anyone on a forum who hasn't seen or driven the car.
  12. That is the brake fluid container, the dip stick is there to let you know the level, don't bloody tape it down.
  13. You'll find people calling it Mulberry, Blackberry, Purple, Violet, Mauve, etc, I wouldn't look too much into it. Sounds like a good deal to me, you should be able to pick up a clean standard one for
  14. They're different, VR ones are cable change.
  15. To be honest, you could buy 3 second hand gearboxes for less than the cost of a proper rebuild, one of them is bound to work. And it's quicker too to just swap a complete gearbox, instead of taking one off, taking it to bits, rebuilding it, then putting it back on.
  16. Buying a box from a breaker is far far cheaper than getting a box rebuilt.
  17. I was seconds too late in going for those, I'd have ripped his arm off for a grand.
  18. Finding a set will be your biggest problem, I've been after a set for a while.
  19. No, as soon as I noticed the CV grease splattered on my alloys, I booked it in to get fixed. If something needs fixed, then it's not going to get better on its own, be as well getting it fixed as soon as you possibly can before it breaks anything else.
  20. I got it done a few weeks ago at a local VW specialist. Including VAT, labour and the parts, I was around
