  1. My car also did this the other day, but only briefly....... seemed to go away too??? Did the AA charge you for it?
  2. Rah 3 Months!!! That's insane lol - maybe you need a restrictor on the throttle pedal

    Bye bye VW

Turbo Supra's were loads faster then N/A ones - even before 100 mph...... I wasted a Supra in my R5 Turbo - i soon realised it was an N/A model when i tested a Twin Turbo Supra, nice......... but a bit big and boat like i felt? I do like the look of the 300zx, and you don't see that many around which is always nice! They do some really nice bits for them too, good luck with her!
  4. lol - I don't know why everyone thinks the M3 would be so much - it was the Evo that killed me! (hence selling after 4 months). The M3 was still the best car out of the lot, for pure comfort, style and speed when you wanted it you can't go wrong! I would definitely have another one day, over the Evo 6 i reckon........
  5. I was 21 at the time!! It was a 1998 M3 Evo (SMG), 35k miles and i had a Trakker fitted to it which made my insurance £1550.00 with Tesco...... I had the M3 6 months but was offered £15k when i'd paid £13k for it so i couldn't turn it down! Sold it and bought the Evo 6 which cost me £1990 through Keith Michaels as Tesco refused to cover it as they'd had a change in their policy and even told me i wouldn't get insurance on the M3 if i tried again now!
  6. Bit worrying you're letting your g/f's tyres get that bad before noticing...... how guilty would you have felt if she'd had a bad accident in the wet or something?? I don't think i've ever seen someone with tyres that worn before...
  7. Thought it would be interesting to see what cars you guys have owned over the years before entering the VR6 world? I'll start, with mine (in order): 306 D Turbo Clio 16v Renault 5 Turbo Clio 16v Dimma Pulsar GTI-R BMW M3 Evolution Mitsubishi Evo 6 VW Golf VR6 Pics are here of all cars apart from the 306 + Evo 6 http://www.anything-cars.com/pictures.htm
  8. Now have these posted on my site, so thought i'd put them up here: And here's one of my Girlfriends Golf GTI
  9. What a waste! I assume you kept it a bit better then he has then??
  10. I probably do it nearly once every trip, but only in 2nd gear, and then it's a case of slowing down again (4th Gear @ 40mph is a good one) to save a bit on fuel etc as this car is supposed to be saving me money............ i said "supposed" ok? lol
  11. Did you ever see the White Mk1 Golf with full Impreza Turbo Runnin gear? That would have been an interesting combo i reckon! Personally i think the R32 lump has to be the one out of any above but i assume prices are going to be at £3k or so as they're so new??
  12. I'd imagine it would be similar to the CTR, as the Clio boys often have a hard time with Civic's. Nothing more embarrassing then being beaten by a Diesel, i don't care how fast they are now - they're still dirty, smelly and noisy - i'd still rather have a decent petrol lump......... call me old fashioned Worst car i ever got beat in was up a hill in my 165 bhp Clio 16v - i had 3 people in the car and got pi$$ed on by a Vauxhall Zafira GSI (2.2 Turbo) this thing shifted and made me feel like a right idiot as it's a people carrier etc lol
  13. They are gorgeous!!! To be honest any money spent on modifying a car is pointless, but we all just HAVE to do it Only thing i've learnt is to keep as much of the standard stuff as possible, so when you sell the car - return it to as near standard as possible and sell all the bits separately, it's the only way of getting any of the money back really as people pay as much for Standard cars as they do modded ones at this end of the market Evo's etc are a bit different as people know how much the mods cost and buy them to modify etc.
  14. Sorry mate, my work is 6 miles - so i can even go home at Lunch (10 mins) and have 40 mins or so at home..... the VR's pretty good for this journey although i understand it to be a better Motorway Cruiser, i still enjoy the drive!
  15. Yeah but you have a Charger I suppose the fact they work at low revs etc explains it really....... I must say i'm driving it really carefully + a bit of traffic etc to get 29mpg to work and back, but there's no point in me booting it as i can only go as fast as the traffic allows anyway..... To be honest it's the most economical car i've had so far (out of M3 Evo, Pulsar GTI-R, Evo 6 etc).... but then the others were just too tempting to boot even between traffic jams lol
  16. That explains where all the extra weight comes from on newer cars too then
  17. I get 29mpg on daily driving to work and back so it depends how you drive it.
  18. Someone's obviously very defensive lol! All i said was i'm sure the build quality is something you'd be impressed with, and the lads that said the Focus would quickly become a 2nd car, i think it's obvious they must be joking about it! No need to take it all so seriously I'm sure you'll get a Bargain VR6 if you're not fussed about leaving it places etc - you may as well buy a real tatty one, as it sounds like it's a car you're going to "abuse" so to speak?
  19. Is your VR standard? I just thought a CTR would be a fair bit quicker then the VR's!? have you had any experiences with 306 GTi-6's, Clio 172/182's??
  20. Agree about the 5 Dr - 3 dr's seem to fetch more money??? Sorry about the Build quality comment....... but you're not going to get many Ford fans on here
  21. Mileage will probably be high at £2995, i'd ring around a few nearer the £4k mark and see what you can barter them down to over the phone - a lot of people are desperate for a sale! I think it's just the build quality you'll be impressed with coming from a Ford, i don't think anyone seriously thinks a VR6 is going to be a car you prefer - but it'll be better then you expect i'm sure of that!
  22. 81,900 (1997 P) Golf 3 Door VR6
  23. Also just so you know i paid £3700 for mine 2 weeks ago (1997, 3 Dr, Black, 81k Miles (FSH) so there are some bargains to be had! The market's always crap before Xmas so it's a great time if you're buying!
  24. Torque - Did someone say Torque??? I personally like the Ingegra, and would have bought one a year ago or so..... i did beat one in my R5 Turbo though, that took the smarmy smile of that guys face! It's a nice car, but Jap build quality leaves a LOT to be desired compared to the VAG stuff, my Golf feels much more solid then the Evo, and it's £11k cheaper lol
