I think you'd have been better off just buying new standard dampers than a cheap and nasty suspension kit. I've made the same mistake in the past and ended up with a horribly bouncy GTI!! As for the Koni/Eibach setup, it's generally accepted to be the best conventional setup, and unless you want height adjustability there's no real reason to go for coilovers. I know the current vogue is for coilies, but this is generally to do with being able to muck about with the ride height for looks, rather than anything to do with improving the handling!!
