  1. Don't say that, I've got a mint set I was going to sell for millions!
  2. Not with the same rims, but the rims I am getting have a caliper clearance issue on the VR. They only just catch on the front faces, and I haven't yet decided whether I can get away with a small amount of grinding on the front of the caliper body, or whether I will use spacers.
  3. GPC sell them. I got a bargain set at Inters last year from them.
  4. This is a common issue on lowered VR's as the sump is pretty exposed. Mk3anni was recently looking for a sump guard as his sump is looking a bit thin in places from running so low! I don't know if he's found anything decent so far.
  5. He only said the 'often' don't know, and in my experience that's also true!
  6. These are the ones I was meaning:
  7. I think you'd have been better off just buying new standard dampers than a cheap and nasty suspension kit. I've made the same mistake in the past and ended up with a horribly bouncy GTI!! As for the Koni/Eibach setup, it's generally accepted to be the best conventional setup, and unless you want height adjustability there's no real reason to go for coilovers. I know the current vogue is for coilies, but this is generally to do with being able to muck about with the ride height for looks, rather than anything to do with improving the handling!!
  8. Are they the VW ones used on the Anniversary RXII's? If so, they are the same as the standard GTI rims, Highline solitudes etc. I got two sets from GPC at Inters last year for about £15 for all eight - I think they added the price up wrong though!!
  9. I've recently moved from a Mk3 GTI to a VR and the VR certainly feels very different due to the weight over the front wheels. That said, I find the VR handles very nicely, it's got Koni shocks, Eibach springs and Eibach ARB's, which I'd throughly recommend!
  10. Or if you'd not fitted that daft power boost valve!!
  11. On my old GTI, only one seemed to get warm and then I realised that the other mirror had been cracked and another mirror stuck over the top, so it was too thick for the heat to get through!
  12. Pics look good! Now get it lowered!! BTW, you don't have to post a new post for each picture, just press enter and then do the next one!
  13. This link should, with a bit of luck, take you straight there! http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?username=Sixappeal1 Must make my car look nice next, then somebody might want to take pictures of it!
  14. Link here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4524184538 Strange thing is he quotes the price more than once, so it's not just a typing error!
  15. I reckon they'll look really good - and will look much much bigger than the Octanes on there at the mo!
  16. I've only got a couple, which Bampson sent to me, of mine on the rollers on it's championship winning run!!: Let's see the rest!
  17. How tall are you?! Looks like that piccie was taken from about 15 ft! EDIT- beaten to it! [ Edited Sun Jan 30 2005, 08:27PM ]
  18. I know, but don't rub it in, I'm feeling pretty smug at the mo!! And the car definitely felt quicker on the way home!!
  19. No charged VR's ran, or I wouldn't have had a hope of winning!!!
  20. A slightly rubbish 187.6 lb ft @ 4455rpm - the butterfly in the Schrick isn't moving, so it's stuck in 'high revs' mode!
  21. Hear, Hear! Thanks everyone for whatever you did!! Was a fun day, despite being bloody freezing! I'm still not quite sure how I managed to win the VR6 class with my old banger..!!
