  1. On a VR that nice you want some decent suspension! If you stick to non-coilover, go for Koni shocks with Eibach springs. Or go for decent coilovers such as FK Konigsports. Costs a bit for either, but it's so worth it!
  2. The difference is the cheap ones are brittle and just break when you hit things, whereas the proper ones tend to bend, and pop back to shape.
  3. 18's are do-able, but still look wrong and drive wrong as far as I'm concerned!
  4. IE5? Remember that! About time you upgraded to IE6, then you won't have any probs!
  5. A8 wheels are 5x112, so you would need adaptors. More to the point a 19" rim would be far too big for a mk3 IMHO - even if you could get them to fit without rubbing, the handling would be appalling anyway, and the sheer size of them would blunt acceleration.
  6. Don't worry too much about the bhp figures - a lot of people get carried away trying to improve that, and ruin the drivability of their car with silly cams etc. My favourite mod on any car ever, has to be the Schrick manifold on the VR, which does close to bugger all in terms of bhp figures, but transforms the way it drives!
  7. Where did you check that? VAG, stands for Volkswagen AG - AG being the German equivalent of PLC. By your definition, we'd also have the BMW Audi Group, and the Daimler Chrysler Audi Group... Back on topic, there was a recent group buy for H&R Coilovers which went the way this appears to have gone on www.rs246.com (that's an Audi forum, John!). The original thread has been moved, but when it was last public, it appeared they had some useful ideas on how to deal with it. Might be worth one of you who is effected asking on there?
  8. Very nice, much better than those dubious Green ones!! Now get yourself a proper front spoiler, those little ones ruin the lines!! Quite like the wheels too!
  9. Don't bother fitting the ECP top mounts- they are pants. Go get some VAG ones. Charge it all to the local council/highways agency.

    New Look...

That would be a bloody good PC if it could completely redesign the site for you!!
  11. Sounds like it could be. To double check if it is slipping, drive along at about 30 in 5th, drop the clutch, rev the engine to say 5,000 and then let the clutch back in sharpish. The revs should drop straight away. If it doesn't it's slipping. The standard VR clutch is pretty meaty, so unless you anticipate doing a lot of engine mods, go for a stock one. Just make sure it's a proper OEM part, not a cheap copy.
  12. Really depends what else you do to it. Not worth chipping a std VR, but much more worthwhile with Cams, Schrick VGI etc etc.
  13. The Bentley manual is very good, made in the US, and you can usually find one on ebay, though I can't see one there at the moment! I think there is a CD version as well as the paper manual.
  14. No they don't, mine are smoked! Christine looks fit!!
  15. I really really must get round to finishing refurbing my BBS, especially as they are in pieces in my kitchen!!
  16. Those BBS would be fantastic with the centres body colour - works so well on colours like that! Bloody expensive wheels though!
  17. Duff CV boot has leaked all the grease out and now the CV joint is running unlubricated, hence it's being noisy. Get it sorted!
  18. I don't remember it, but I had a feeling it was built in the late 90's with the polished roll cage, 17's and Rallye front end! The next incarnation will need to be pretty special to improve on that!
  19. Very nice indeed! Though I'd be scared to leave it anywhere with the ICE on show like that!
  20. I'd take it back to whoever built it and ask them to quieten it down - usually the custom build people will work to whatever requirements they are given, and can probably replace on of the silencers with a more effective one etc. LOL @ Steve - the kok head!!!
  21. If they don't say Recaro on them, they won't be Recaro's, though the stock seats do look pretty similar. Sit in them and you'll soon notice the difference!!
  22. What induction kit are you running? Usually that's what makes all the noise on a VR.
  23. Thank god for that' date=' I'm going to fit one of these! [img']http://www.radiolabs.com/images/battery-charger.jpg
