  1. I'd qualify that as almost every 'modern' car does! I had both a mk2 Escort and a Mini which didn't, and must say the brake pedal feel is usually much nicer without a servo, but sadly they are expected these days so fat unfit people can drive!!
  2. Yes, virtually every car built in the last 30 years has a servo!
  3. Looks lovely and shiny mate! As someone above suggested, the smoked indicators and fogs work really nicely on a black VR! The front spoiler is dead easy to fit. The old one can sometimes be a bit stiff and not want to come off but pull hard enough and it will! Was the first mod I made to my VR, having come from an early GTI which came stock with the same spoiler, the little one looked really odd!
  4. New pics look good! The neg camber looks a bit OTT, especially on the O/S.
  5. GPC ones fit just as well as VAG and are only
  6. Who's the insurance quote from? Have you tried Brentacre? They didn't charge much more for Steve (mk3anni's) cabby being a US import. Brentacre 01792 650933.
  7. The other reason underwriters tend to load premiums for caged motors, is they tend to be driven quicker and beyond the drivers' limits as the driver feels safer - this is usually the Max Power types of course... Try a decent specialist such as Brentacre (01792 650933) and they should take a more sensible view.
  8. Nope, the Vento and Golf bumpers are most definitely different, so the right spoiler is needed.
  9. Chase HQ, aaaah I remember the hours and hours spent playing that on the Atari ST!
  10. If you've already got a laptop, then it's cheaper to buy a VAGCOM lead and acquire the software somewhere!!
  11. GPC is the place for decent front spoilers which fit, but I understand they are out of stock at the moment. With those headlights, I think you need tinted or crystal indicators and fogs next!!
  12. Towards basingstoke, but it was last week!
  13. What's happened to the BBS? Don't suppose you're selling them?
  14. Petrol consumption? Who cares... it sounds and goes fantastically!
  15. mk3anni is running approximately 60mm down on coilovers (I'm guessing as mine is 35mm drop and he is considerably lower than me). He's running 16's with 195/45/16's with no issues (his arches are rolled though). It really depends what you define as 'wide'. 9x16's can be run that low but will need a fair amount of arch work, and also you might have strut clearance issues with traditional struts rather than coilies, which are thinner.
  16. The TT competitions will fit fine and a number of people (Binliner on here for example) have run low without any rubbing issues. The only requirement is that you use 205/40/17 tyres, nothing bigger!
  17. Remember it's got a big old engine in there, so there's a lot of heat!! Temps sound pretty normal to me.
  18. Get some photographic evidence of the skid marks, and get full details of the hitchhiker, and put it in the hands of your Insurers. With an independent witness and that evidence you should have a pretty good case proving it's her fault.
  19. Oh, and another set: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=72254&item=7985407358&rd=1
  20. VW Stealer? Are you mad!! Yes the brakes will work fine with the light on, but you will have no ABS so bear that in mind. Mine's the same at the mo, and I had an interesting moment on the damp A3 last night - it's been a while since I owned a car without ABS!! If the light has come on, I can't see how VAGCOM hasn't shown a fault code - they should be logged even if the light has gone off.

    20V Turbo

A stock 1.8T doesn't have a major kick, though it does gather pace as you go up the revs. But they do feel gutless really compared to a VR!
  22. Sorry, presumed you'd have been there!! This is the thread: http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=76598&PN=1
  23. There's a bloke known as 'Floaty' on Club GTI forum who's just had it done - might be worth asking him.
