  1. Burnt and scored CV ball bearings..... use grease next time...... &|
  2. cant see any debris in the joint but there appears to be not a lot of grease.. is this unough to cause it to seize? its free running now.. weird...
  3. mine was making a slight metallic clunking before it went, at the extreemes of steering lock. I drove my rover for 12 months before i changed them and i was ok. guess VW cv's arnt as tolerant of wear...

  5. ill post some pics after ive figuered out how i'm gonna get to taunton tommorow for my sons christening.... took 4 hours to get recovered... and the hazards flattened the battery... very cold when you cant start the engine!

If your cv joints start clicking on less than full lock CHANGE THEM AND DONT DRIVE!! nearly stuffed my VR into the central reservation as the joint collapsed jamming the steering and preventing me from turning to the right. !amazed now considerably lighter in the wallet following a 60 mile recovery Devilfish....
  7. of my car is slowly falling apart.. !amazed radiator, abs sensors... !sad now i have what i think is a wheel bearing going on the passenger side and my CV joint drivers side is making a racket when turning. ~ A few questions... I have a bearing kit from GSF is there a procedure online for replacing the bearing and is a press required for removal. The bearing i have looks like a normal, albeit large! ball race, i have only ever done the taper roller bearing type before. is it an easy job? also same question for replacing the front outside cv/uj is it an easy job?   13. threadlock the bolts when you put them back and torque in the correct order !
  14. mines on 17s had the camber toe and tracking done handles perfectly
  15. same symtoms here had a spark but it was weak, turend out to be a dodgy coil pack, hairline crack running round the end..

  21. 17" wheels fit fine on my slammed VR, just go for 17/35/205 tyres think my wheels are 7.5 inches wide.
  22. i can get 36-38 mpg if i coast down hills and drive like a granny... avoiding using the brakes can help too
