  1. Thread going on evo and Club GTI where people are timing cars from 60-100 leptons. Choose your 'best' gear from 60 then pull up to a ton and time it. Simple. Not got my VR done yet but tried it in my gf's R32, it can do it in 7.5 secs all in 4th gear. Let's have your efforts posted up! Ahhem, this test must be carried out off the public highway under supervision of a responsible adult...

    mk2 vr6 vs R32

Hi Russ, I agree ! Claire's had the 264 Schricks fitted in her R32 now, it goes very well
  3. IbiVR used 50ft to wrap mine, only just had enough!
  4. It's not the tinniness you want to worry about, when it melts through the heater hoses and air intake plastic pipe and the steering coloum boot etc you'll be wishing you bought some wrap
  5. http://s74.photobucket.com/albums/i270/GVK34/?action=view&current=vrrunning009.flv Smoke is the manifold heat wrap, bit of tappet noise ( new tappets first run) and the NOISE is the fact there's no exhaust on it. Thanks to those who've helped on the project so far, you know who you are!
  6. Nice kit, got one on my mk2 VR6, not run the car yet tho...
  7. I'm using it on my mk2 but mounted on top of the tunnel. I've heard you can squeeze it underneath with a bit of 'adjustment' to the tunnel. You need to fit an O2J shift tower in the box so the cable ends mate up. So, R32 shifter lever and cables, 02J shift mech tower in an 02A box. Not got mine running yet but it's all connected up and works a treat.
  8. You need a 28mm rear ARB mate, brilliant mod for a mk2. I've got H&R 25mm front and 28mm rear on mine, rear bar is 3-way adjustable too.
  9. Kev, be following your progress...use the img tags but in lower case, i think..
  10. Sump is standard for now, need to get a baffled one sorted. What suspension set up do you have on yours?

    mk2 vr6 vs R32

Agree with the above, my gf has a AmD st2 R32 and it'll do a 14.5 1/4 easily. Mind you, we had a bit of a race along a duel carriageway when my mk2 was a 180bhp 16v and from 80-120 leptons there was nothing in it.
  12. I might cut the floor out behind the driver seat and build a box so teh battery is flush like an old Mini. Got a few ideas for the future, one will involve a project not too dissimilar to what you're currently doing....... Been bitten by the boost bug, with influence from IbiVR and co, and just had a drive in a mate's 340bhp Saphirre Cosworth. Wooooo!!
  13. Kev,remember It's in my mk2 so it'll only weigh 1100kg max with the VR in anyway... Only has race seats and a cage in it Peloquin diff and a 3.68 FD already in there, running 02J shifter tower and R32 shift lever and cables. I have to be careful what goes behind the seats as I carry spare wheels with semi-slicks (Toyo R888s) to events.
  14. Download it from here - http://www.milfordmicros.co.uk/milfordmicro/DynoPlot/index_html
  15. For those that go to Stealth, get yourselves the trial version of the Dynoplot software, install it on your pc's and then get the dyno run files from Vince copied onto a floppy. You can then go home and view the files do a print screen > paste into an image prog. and post up the jpegs. Can overlay graphs from different runs just as the full version Vince uses. example here of a pair of mk2 16v's ran on a shoot out day last year. http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a153/GVK31/gvkvsdeakopower.jpg
  16. Ahh bugger, that's not far from Worcester, but we'll just be getting back that morning from a cruise around the Med. mk2 VR6 will be running by then and Claire could've put the AmD st2 R32 on too arse. Maybe next time.
  17. I'll be happy with that! Not posted too much about the swap. As some of you know, we're in the process converting my mk2 Golf track day car to VR6 power. More progress this weekend. Starting Saturday am, stripped engine, to replace all timing chains, tensioners and guides (guides were worn through to rivets and upper guide was broken ), new thinner steel head gasket, fitted 268° cams + new tappets, *light* Unorthodox racing alloy flywheel, new VAG clutch then slipped on the rebuilt 'box with 3.68 fd and Peloquin ATB (after taking it off again to fit the release bearing and clutch fork.. lol!)
  18. OBD1 uses an ISV where as the OBD2 has a motorised throttle body, but I guess you knew that.
