  1. my jom one has the metal lower part, you're best off checking with whoever you're buying one off to make sure. Not sure where else sells them, I got one a couple of years ago from dubfreeze. (@)
  2. jom ones are definately better than fk as far as value for money and fit go, check out the jom one here, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-MK3-III-MK-3-Debadged-Bageless-Grill-Grille-NEW_W0QQitemZ110088740350QQihZ001QQcategoryZ43118QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem seems a very good price, i paid that much for mine second hand a year ago! if you don't mind paying a bit more, i really recommend the mattig 2 bar as it was superior quality and fit but alot more expensive! 6. spoken to the experts and had a vw specialist auto electrician look over absolutely everything and vagcom comes back with no faults, resetting the ecu has made her run slightly better but she's getting worse again, so not apermanent fix. The auto electrician is positive it's the ecu at fault and says i need a replacement. The code off mine is 021 906 258 CH, does anyone know the best place to source a second hand one? I've found a few with the letters CP at the end, will any other vr6 obd1 ecu do? or does it have to be the CH? Hope someone knows! Cheers
  7. bugger, re-set the ecu following petes instructions, but still running wrong fuel mixture, so will have to ask auto electrician next week if re-setting this way actually re-sets adaptations or just basic settings, me thinks a new ecu is in order! doh!
  8. i'll let you know if the ignition trick works tomorrow, my car is locked away at a garage, so i'll have to scrounge a lift there in the morning to try it out. fingers crossed!
  9. yep, disconnecting the battery didn't reset the adaptations, but not tried the ignition trick, so will give that a go, thanks petes!
  10. disconnecting the battery doesn't work. I've got a mate with a sharan vr6 ecu he says i can have, will this work?
  11. hi guys, does anyone know if it's possible to reset the ecu's adaptations? The latest from the garage is that because my car was running fine with 6 bent exhaust valves for the past two years, the ecu was compensating by altering the fuel mixture and now i've had the headwork done, it's not bounced back so is running really lean (not running under load at all now). So if the ecu can be reset to learn the adaptations again, the problem may be solved without a new ecu having to be sourced. Hope someone knows, Thanks, Katie PS, I tried to search for answers to this, but i kept getting a message
  12. cheers pete tom's going to give the ecu a clean, see if that does owt! the auto electrician has been too busy to look at it yet.
  13. yeah, well frustrating, i've been 3 months now without my vr working properly, aaargh!
