About 300 to the tank. MFA says about 26/27mpg which sounds about right (commuting, M way, A roads...so a bit of a mix)

Shame that the C was hand built by Karmann (a friend has one and says they tend to have bits drop off / rattle a lot etc)...my 10yr old Golf really does feel bulletproof, as did the last one I had, I cannot stand squeaks and rattles ! Also hard to find one with a/c....another essential in my book. The Golf has just enough toys without going daft. Otherwise I think I'd have a C...must try one anyhow...but a shame that VW stopped making them so early and never replaced it...but that's another story.

Why is the Corrado raved about, and the Golf less so in terms of handling prowess ? Surely the mk3 is a later design than the mk2/Passat based C, thus should handle at least as well ? I have only driven a Corrado briefly, and that was years ago...so cannot really comment. Is it simply the lower Centre of Gravity ? Both have a heavy iron blocked lump out front and weigh about the same....but to me the Golf obviously rather nose lead and soft...neither of mine have enjoyed the corners very much (std suspension) Do they have fundamentally the same suspension setup ? Next q would be how best to im

On the rear on my 95 Highline, it's solid / smooth (i.e. no indents / gaps between the V / W and the outer chrome ring) Pretty sure my "old" (1997) VR6 had a different VW badge on the back... http://photos6.flickr.com/7397765_ef81a4bd0b_b.jpg [ Edited ]

Ah brilliant, that answers that, cheers !

As you look into the boot, right hand side, behind the light (tucked behind the carpet) is a box thing. It has an electrical supply and a couple of pipes in and out by the look of it...just wondered what it was for ? Rear wash wipe ? It appears to be strapped in quite tightly, but the strap can be unclipped. Cheers,Dan.

I bought 5 litres Fuchs Titan XTR Semi-Synth 10/40 for just over a tenner (from local Scats country store). They also do Fully Syn (5/30 I think) for just over £13 ! Said it's VW approved on the back - believe this company's oil goes in a lot of new VW / BMW etc and have seen them recommended elsewhere.

Yep agreed, they don't own the place so shouldn't be lining their own pockets, well u'd not think so (mayb on commission ?) A bit late now but I always drop in a letter saying "please do x, y and z today. ANYTHING on top please call me before carrying out the work"...just to make sure. Did they let you know about this other stuff, if not u may have grounds to dispute it ? (not entirely sure how this works tho) Were you aware of any faults before the car went in that needed doing ? (i.e. listed as needing attention on previous bills / MOT sheets etc) Suggest u detail exactly what was done and h

cheers for that, less than I thought, handy for the old power/wt calculation ;-) even a hot Clio is pushing 1100kg these days, Civic Type R 1200kg, so an AMD remap with large throttle body would see them and Mini Cooper S's off nicely ;-) (not got a handbook yet, hopefully get that with the car tomorrow)

the nationwide I have been to locally have been pretty good...not the types to pull a fast one...must have had a lot of bits doing... :?

I'm sure it had climatronic, will check tomo...didn't notice the console, lack of sills, or black pillars..... Ref the logbook, this (free) check also might help confirm if ur is looking at / own a highline: http://www.carwatchuk.com/FormsEngineUIP/Controllers/SinglePartDataCapture.aspx -
Any1 know what this is ? Google ranges from 1155kg to 1300kg. One article said 30kg more for the 5door. Did VW give the figures at all ? (i.e. in a brochure or something?) ?! Thx, dan.

I can supply these (apart from a/c) assuming I buy the car this week. Not owned a VR6 for a while, wasn't aware of all the differences... Black a/b/c pillars - inside presumably ? Wots the raised rear console ? So the skirts are removed for the HL ?! -
Hi All, Sorry to start with one of these, but I am hoping to buy the following...before I do would be grateful if you guys let me know what you think on the value: 1995 N 5 door Highline (has the Highline "bits") 2 owners Black with black leather 59k miles FSH / bills / receipts New MoT Tax till Sept private sale It appears to be a good, straight car - cannot see any signs of crash damage / paint being done. Could do with a little TLC / elbow grease, but fundamentally solid from what I can see. Thanks, Dan.
