  1. Problem turned out to be seized rear brake calipers...had em replaced with new discs and pads all round, plus new handbrake cable, brake fluid. Nationwide Ripoffcentre charged me
  2. Nice one, do you want to buy an Indian Red VR6 by any chance?
  3. Indian Red - yes, the colour nobody wants.
  4. Thanks antera, I agree. Lets face it, whatever it is its going to cost me
  5. Major disaster this morning...I put my foot on the brake pedal and guess what. Nothing happened! As you can imagine I shit myself. Luckily there was a just a small bite from the brakes when I smashed the brake pedal to the floor. Also the handbrake cable was loose (has been for a few days)....I'm hoping I can get it to a garage tonight...any ideas what it could be fellas? The brake fluid is still above the min mark
  6. Use tyretraders.com to buy your tyres - its got free delivery - im positive you wont find cheaper. Just got 2 Avon ZV3's from there - a seriously good tyre
  7. [blockquote] Midland VW is in Cannock which is not too far..... [/blockquote] Thanks for bringing these guys to my attention, I didnt know about them. Maybe a little too far for me though mate, especially with a moaning wife and 2 kids in toe...Considering the amount of dubbers in the Black Country there is a gap in the market for a good VW garage... [blockquote]no ,
  8. [blockquote]How come you didnt take it to a near by VW specialist? [/blockquote] There are none by me...(West Bromwich)
  9. So when they said the had repaired the 'middle and rear sections' this actually included the catalyst box? Euro car parts are quoting
  10. What kind of price + labour would I be looking at including the replacement of the belt? Its not an engine removal job is it? Thanks again
  11. Thanks Mighty - so the water pump is causing the noise and the coolant leak? Whats the purpose of the belt?
  12. Thanks for your reply. Here are some images of the offending area http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a333/PiperUK/DSCF1011.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a333/PiperUK/DSCF1008.jpg http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a333/PiperUK/DSCF1009.jpg You can see the coolant on the road in the first pic. In the second pic the corroded rubber belt and the tapping noise are on the left hand side of the engine. The third pic is a close up of the belt - the coolant seems to be coming from here, its dripping onto the belt.
  13. Hi guys - my VR has been drinking coolant like there is no tomorrow. After looking at the forum I decided it could possibly be the thermostat housing. In the last few days though there has been a rythmic tapping sound from the left hand side of the engine where the rubber belt is and today the coolant has come pouring out from this area. I'm assuming that this is where the water pump is located. Is that right? Does anyone think the pump could have been making that noise. Im hoping its not the chains :@ Also what is the name of that rubber belt on the left hand side? Mine looks pretty worn...
  14. Has anyone noticed a negative change in performance since fitting an induction kit? With the standard air filter I always enjoyed the torquey burst at about 3000rpm. Since fitting a Pipercross unit (which by the way only came with one jubilee clip when I needed two - bastards) this 'burst' has dissappered. Maybe its just me !shy
  15. £490ish esure fully comp - aged 32 with 5yrs ncp, protected - but postcode makes a huge difference, so the VR6 is registered at a mates house who lives in a more well to do part of the west mids... [ Edited Wed Apr 20 2005, 08:02PM ]
  16. So whats the capacity of the VR6 fuel tank? Am I right in thinking 55 litres? 1 gallon = 3.785 litres So at an average MPG of 20.9 I should be able to go 303 miles on a tank of fuel...does that sound about right in your experience? I've only used half a tank so far so I wouldnt know [ Edited Sun Apr 10 2005, 08:11PM ]
  17. Thanks for the tip badboy, my VR6 is on a K plate so I'll get it checked out
  18. I like the way u have put on the early chin spoiler. Later Vr's didnt look right without it.
  19. Thanks guys, it looks like the car needs a service and a tune up. I need to find out about crypton tune Shail. Although, as I have only had my VR6 a week I had to see what she could do through the gears... Best moment so far: absolutely slaughtered a Jaguar XJ who was about to overtake. I dropped her into 4th and just pulled away. The look on the guys face...LOL! £30000 Jag vs £1300 VW...I'm lovin it. [ Edited Sat Apr 09 2005, 08:33PM ]
  20. How many miles does a VR6 do on a tank of fuel? Bit worried about mine, MFA reading 20.9 mpg, looks like a might need a crypton tune up. :@
