  1. That's the most daunting part, IMO. I didn't withdrawal behind long black hair and hoodies as an adolescent for nothing ;-) The group is going to be large enough so that no one will know everyone so we are all in the same boat, even the seasoned members. Saying that, the first two or three LHD roundabounts can be interesting for the uninitiated! Just remember the residents of Boulogne are used to inexperienced 'Roast Beefs'. The new route has us on the motorway in no time. Where we stay until about 40miles of Nurburg. I can understand the financial aspect, things aint getting any cheaper
  2. The ECU needs to have power and if it's OBD2 the immobiliser has to be deactivated. SO I think you chances of getting anything meaning full out are slim.
  3. All I know is that there is some shareware software which does most of what you need to do. But as I went for the easy reader option I'll have to pass on further advice. No doubt someone else will be along soon. These two threads might be of help in the mean time: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?214753 http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?185177
  4. Either have a nice word with somebody on this list who's lcoal to you. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?146266 Or buy a VAG-Com cable from Ebay if you happen to have a lap top else a stand alone code reader: http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=1&catref=C12&from=R10&_trksid=m37&satitle=%2Bvag+%2Bcode&sacat=9800%26catref%3DC6&a6=-24&a39=-24&a39702=-24&a10244=-24&alist=a6%2Ca42078%2Ca39%2Ca41%2Ca39702%2Ca10244&pfmode=1&reqtype=1&gcs=2390&pfid=3528&pf_query=%2Bvag+%2Bcod
  5. Ultimate Dubs is going to be like a pre 'Ring meet. Or else you can come up to Kettering the weekend before that for our usual monthly. On the morning in question, Birchanger Services seems a good staging post for all the Herts crew.
  6. They are not the same sensor. Crank position ( 00514 ) has the ID# G4, where as the engine speed is G28. I used to believe that the 00513 was automatic on a stopped engine, but have since found that that info only applies to pre 1996 ECUs
  7. Not 100% about Boulogne' date=' have a sneaking suspicion access to what I'm taking to be parking is actually via the port. [/quote'] Why not meet at L'Eclerc? On the way out of the port, go straight over at the immediate roundabout (instead of turning right as we always do and heading into town). Keep going sraight over until you see the big fuck off supermarket on the right. Turn right at the roundabout and pull into the car park. They do cheap fuel too. As a bonus, that roundabout has a turning onto the dual carrigeway to the motorway. I went that way last summer and it's about 20 min
  8. Yes I am. I wondered where the f**k that had gone. It's been the puzzle of the last year! I'll swap it for a charged one at Dover Cheers' date=' Andy [/quote'] So mine must be, as I thought, on a table in the cafe :-(
  9. There is. I'm never going to go on my own again. I can't imagine going through what Pete had to without support. And for everyone else it should be to get a Hi Vis vest.
  10. Belgium has jumped from being cheapest for petrol to the most expensive country en-route!! [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1201864223_2196_FT191036_fuel_1-2-8.jpg][/lightbox] So a new plan might be in order.
  11. Here's some nifty weather software for Pocket PCs and Smartphones: http://www.singerscreations.com/Software.asp It's especially good for roaming as the data packet it receives is only about 15K, rather than browsing to a web page where you'll have to pay for fetching the graphics and background crap each time. And there's a desktop version too. But I doubt I'll have my desktop with me. ;-) The code for the Nurburg region is GMXX0155 TG
  12. 7 weeks. Only seven weeks. How the feck did that happen *-)
  13. have a look at Ben's micro PDA site http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/pda/index.html
  14. Pete' date=' your more than welcome to crash at mine. Still 2hrs from Dover but better than nothing. [/quote'] Oooops, sorry Pete, bad choice of words. Stop at mine I meant. ;-)
  15. Ferry is at 7. The cheap tickets have a 45min check in and the ferry is full. So I'd suggest 5:30 for a 5:45 roll out so that no-one gets bumped. Good God' date=' [i']what am I saying!!
  16. Pete, your more than welcome to crash at mine. Still 2hrs from Dover but better than nothing.
  17. Not 100% about Boulogne, have a sneaking suspicion access to what I'm taking to be parking is actually via the port.
  18. And as for meeting before the ferry, the usual spot has been Dover leisure center. But for a larger crowd I'd suggest the car park next to it, between woolcomber street and russell street. CT16 1LN http://www.dover.gov.uk/maps/dover-map.pdf
  19. My best guess is some where here [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1201789516_2196_FT191036_boulogne.jpg][/lightbox] Easy to find (*) . Rather than turning left on the roundabout as you leave the port, turn right. There seems to be a parking bay down by the sea front. The N1 then takes us directly to the A16 motorway without going though the center of town and risk getting split up. (*) famous last words!
  20. OBD2 as better since they are newer and have better diagnotsics. They also have a little more power, although VW didn't actually change the quoted output.

  22. Working on it as I type. From Boulogne it's only 300 miles, so one stop should do us. This is where we had our main stop last time; Texaco Groot Bijgaarden. Although we missed all the extra parking and ended up double parked, doh! http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=50.880401&lon=4.253536&z=17&r=0&src=ggl About 2hrs from Boulogne and more importantly just before the Brussels Ring Road. Next task is to fine somewhere in Boulogne to wait up whilst we all disembark. TG
