  1. the ECU immobiliser can be removed. swapping the manifold over has got be easier than ripping the loom out. I'm assuming the OBD1 runs a coilpack
  2. multimap says only 1.5hrs and it's over cautions so I should be with you shorty after 2. I'm guessing you'll be leaving around 3:30 as bruntingthorp's so close.
  3. Off the top of my head you'll need to either change the wiring loom or swap the intake manifolds over and put the original ECU back in.
  4. The valver is getting a new screen tomorrow so should be back in action. But I may have a change of heart over bringing the VR as it was in the same state at Easter and made it all the way to the ring and back fully loaded. With both Tony and VRStig at inters I'm assuming that if I do pick up some coillies they could be fitted before I leave ;-)
  5. With my new job to celibrate it's likely to get messy :-)
  6. think I'll be a little late for lunch won't be leaving st ives until around 1
  7. may have to go for plan a afterall as I found out this morning that some little fucker has bounced a boulder off the valvers windscreen and it's cracked to buggery :-(
  8. Not wanting to be seen as taking the pith I've only asksed for Friday afternoon off. I'll meet you somehwere before you get to Bruntingthorpe.
  9. camping is comunial so just come and find us. And as ben said we'll make space on stand. They are normally generous on space anyway. What time are you due?
  10. Rear shocks have gone and i don't want to drive it loaded.
  11. Dont think the VRs coming so I have a spare stand pass.

always good to hear. VW build quality FTW.
  14. yep, by the skin of my teeth for being a nice chap rather than my current technical skills. I'll find out the position of taking vacation so soon after starting and let you know asap.
  15. Me too. The cracking weekend at Bristol has whetted my appitite for sitting around in a field drinking excessivly. You still owe me £30 for all your alchopop
  16. that's not such an easy conversion. but still possible. you need to swap the upper timing chain cover and some 'gubbins' on the end of the rear cam shaft. The dizzy engine has some sort of spline to drive the dizzy where as the OBD2 will have something to activate the cam shaft sensor attached to the chain cover. And even more reason to swap all the sensors.
  17. yep, put the OBD2 intake manifold onto the OBD1 block and you have an ODB2 motor if you use all the sensors from the later car.
  18. yep, I think you've found the problem ;-)
  19. is the starter motor turning the engine over?
