  1. Helen, I noticed on Sunday that you have a tongue piercing and know that, like tattoos, piercings rarely come in ones ;-) You may want to read this before using your CG Lock: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/south_east/7020936.stm
  2. It's not unheard of for the internals of the oil cooler to fail allowing your water and oil to mix there causing the same mayo symptoms as a head gasket failure. I'can't drive mine for only 5 mins. My journey to work which takes me 7 mins in the GTi always takes me over 20 whenever I take the VR :-D
  3. Snap. As long as it's dry I'll be there. The cold will be good practice for next Easter ;-) No cinema this time but will bring the fire pit for sure and a big sack of coal. :-d
  4. I think you need to be registered, and logged in to see that forum. It disappears when I log out anyway!
  5. From what I can see the OBD port is wired directly to the ECU. The ignition maybe on but is the immobiliser off? If there's a fault with the ABS the lamp will come straight back on! TG
  6. After his European tour, LG6R-924 ( Marco ) has posted his Ed38 pictures on their forum. Including a lot of the VR6OC camp and stand. http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=111365&st=0
  7. If you are lucky enough to get it out without cracking the housing than all you'll need is the thermostat seal - N901 368 02 - £2.15 + vat
  8. Your oil will take longer to warm up. But as long as you don't cane it until it does, it shouldn't cause a problem. The thermostat housing is below the coil pack. VW should stock them as I will expect do Eurocarparts and GSF. Awesome do lower temp ones. The housing itself can become quite brittle over time so be prepared to change that as well. All the part numbers are in this thread http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?132303
  9. I've emailed the owner this morning to see about a group booking.
  10. Cadguy is currently supercharged but has plans ;-). Craggsy will have 268 cams and a Shrick. Everybody else is running induction and exhaust mods at most. At the 'Ring it's not all about power. Skill and commitment play just a large a part. Last year I was keeping up in a standard Mk3 16valver.
  11. Off the top of my head, the thermostat is stuck open.
  12. I've just had a google and found this site! http://www.autobahnatlas-online.de/index_e.html And it would seem that the A60 South of the Prum turn off (B51) is deristricted. It's about 25Km to the next junction and back ;-) As is the A1 South of the B421 at Daun. which is more out of the way unless stopping at hotel. The 'Ring being between Adenau and Kelberg. [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1191317020_2196_FT191036_autobahn.jpg][/lightbox] The more industrial route to the 'Ring A4 / A61 / A1 is littered with deristricted sections [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1191317426_2196_FT191036_
  13. This way to the 'Ring Well actually this is the route to the most likely hotel. But it's still a nice route to Nurburg ( 20km further on ) as it gets you to the mountains and forests earlier so is more picturesque and takes you past Spa :-d
  14. My prefared route uses no derestricted autobahn. In fact it only uses 25km of German motorway at all, most of the driving being in Belguim
  15. Now there's a cunning way to boost the thread's message count ;-)
  16. A CG-Lock, currently a group buy. For the price of 3/4 tank of petrol at todays prices. thanks to Craggsy and Gordon Brown. it will really help you make the most of any suspension tweaks. I'll shut up know! TG
  17. Shame about the batteries, pictures where looking good. You caught my best side as well! No.2 seems like a school boy error ;-) You'll find it only takes one show of queueing for expensive crap food (*) for no. 4 to become engrained. Good to meet you to Sean. The VR6OC forum doesn't have the reputation for being one of the nicest places on the web for nothing See you next Sunday. TG (*) Obviously I don't have experiance of the prices or quality of the food today. Although the prices didn't seem bad compared to others. And the beer was very good value compared to Cambrisdge prices!
  18. the standard relays are: 53 : Horn 99: intermittant wipers 72: rear wash / wipe 109: ecu 18: 'load reduction' 21: hazards 67: fuel pump the thers aren't on my list , all I have is 'Position 15 - 24: optional equiment'
  19. Sometime around then, for sure. Hopefully it'll be better tomorrow! As I still haven't cleaned the car since b4 Ed38. :-#
  20. Brrr, winter is coming ( http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20070928/tuk-britons-facing-colder-winter-6323e80_1.html ). Stock up on those toasty, toasty, VR6OC hooded tops and fleeces at VW Players. And polo shirts!
