    no it's like a switch so the alarm will sound if the bonnet is opened. If it's still in place it might look a bit like a solenoid. Mine is a 2cm cylimder of plastic sticking up vertivally

    i guess a poor air / fuel mixture could throw the o2 sensor and also cause knocking. But i'm no mechanic! Did your friend clear the codes?

    i got yearly policies last year which are still in force :-)

    525 is O2 sensor voltage low 524 is knock sensor 1

    looks like it comes out from near you alarm. Could it be for a bonnet switch?

    thats normally why it's done. Order from their web site and postage is free although the spolier is £20. Either way far better than VW. Got mine a while ago. Not tried fitting it. Keeping it as a spare until I do something proper bad to the one that's on

    i thought you meant go and drive it. La source to les combes is sometimes open. I do agree that eau rouge has to be seen to be belived.

    and if you get them from rally design probably cheaper than an oem set. VW charge upto £70 a hose

    Idling should only be a a problem on OBD1 models. OBD2 have a better idle control system. The weakest point of the HG seems to be just beside the airbox/MAF. Alot/most./all weep here a little but too much isn't a good sign. I own both a 16V and a VR and the VR is in a different league. So smooth yet so grunty. Doesn't feel like there is only 24 horses different. Oh and the VR roar :-) Never ignore a sign.

    107K isn't hile milage ;-) Quantum Synta Silver from VW and maybe Eurocar Parts. GSF sell Fuchs which is the next best thing ( or identical depending on who you listen to). Semi Synthetic 10/40 IIRC
