  2. and an even smaller village to house 2 vr6 golfs and a corrado
  3. no worries' date=' easily fixed starting with the time of day, you have duration of trip, distance of trip, average speed for trip, miles per gallon / litre per 100km, oil temp and external temp as youve worked out
  4. you cant be too far from me then. I'll keep my eye out for you. would be good to see another old timer bombing around the place. also brett ( Ventovr6essex or summit on here ) works at a garage in Thriplow called Revivals.
  5. so far, it's rain but I just don't trust these things.
  6. avoid VW. they don't care about your 16+ year old car. they'd prefer to sell you a new one!! mv developments in shepreth http://mvdevelopments.co.uk or 07851754887 havent used him myself but good things have been said about the place on Golf GTi forum about 10 miles south of Cambridge just of the A10
  7. apart from the rolling road day in Nov.
  8. does the plug only plug in one way round? or might you have inverted it?
  9. is the scuttle panel the big plastic bit below the wipers ?? yep
  10. well I've done it so it can't be that bad. hardest job is removing the scuttle panel.
  11. the cars look so shiney and th on board shots look more like a video game than ever.
  12. As they say in Hull, it's not over until the fat lady sings.
  13. And that will only be with the DVLA. I assume VW use their own records of the original purchase.
  14. VAG-COM might give you a better idea. I believe the usual suspects in such cases are ( in no particular order ) cam sensor, crank sensor, coil pack.
  15. Ekta is showing a 92 VR6 oil pump as 021 115 105B and if that doesn't help you have PM
  16. some time saturday for most. mid afternoon, I tend to get there early, as I'm kinda local, to set up. but this time I'm thinking of sleeping in the car 'cos it'll have heating.
  17. I would be to. very nice car. enjoy
  18. true, she has such a dirty laugh. and lives down our way somewhere Gav so you never now. As does Mark Bundell. Saw him at tescos the other week. but I digress.
  19. mine takes a few seconds to start when cold which I'm now happy with because it does in the end. but if you say it's only just started? unlikey to be MAF I'd say. but try disconnecting it to see if thigs are better or worse. also could be coil in the same way as the coilpack is an easy target for the later engines, and just a coincidence it happened with the filter change.the mk3 16v coils fit
  20. 850 isn't low, normal is 700 +/- 50 but most are spot on 750. Coil(pack)?
  21. marbles / ball bearings in a can is all the description you need mate. worse at 1500rpm but it's unmissable. use a long screwdrive to 'listen' to the cover, rememebr to put the wooden end to your ear not the pointy one ;-) As above does vary from car to car, and how they have been used / abused
