  1. right i have replaced the coil pack with a brand new one had the diag check done which brought up maf and temp sender prob because i unplugged both while it was running after clearing the codes none came up again so it was all clear. i tried unplugging the blue temp sender tonight due to the car only running rough when its warm but it still seems to have a problem. if i hold the revs just under 3k i can feel the engine isnt running smooth its like i can feel vibration and not only at that rpm seems to go on and off at different rpm,s. what are the symptoms of a faulty cam sensor? or temp senso
  2. just had another look at the coil pack tonight with the cover off after spraying with water i noticed verry verry slight sparks could it be enough to cause the problems im having. it needed a really good soaking before i got any sparks. anyway im hoping to get the diag test tomorrow see if that reveals anything.
  3. something i didnt notice before just fitted a new air filter an checked the oil and happend to notice mayo on the oil filler cap and in the breather pipe from the rocker cover the small pipe coming off the induction pipe near the t/b. also checked the water and it was quite bubbly couldent see any oil though could this mean head gasket on its way out or something more serious, bearing in mind it was off the road for a couple of months and being started once a week or so.
  4. i bought new leads just under a year ago they still seem quite supple i had all the plugs out and checked the leads but u never know with leads could be a weak or bad lead i did try spraying water all over the leads and coil pack didnt see any sparks. by the way i caoted the entire plastic part of the coil pack in a silicone compound seems to do a really good job of insulating. but it could be damaged inside could it be my temp sender as its heat related. if i had the money i would by a new maf, temp sender, coil pack and leads. is there a way to test leads with a multimeter.? the price list

  6. can the temp sender cause problems also whats the idea of unplugging the maf what can doing this reveal?
  7. also i know the coil pack is a bit dodgy but i have sealed all the cracks can they go bad on the inside. i dont want to fork out for a new one only to find its something else causing the problem.
  8. just started happening seems to hold back untill over 3k. i have checked the leads, coil pack and plugs and cleaned the cam sensor what else could it be. thx phil
  9. no suspension damage as im aware, i was lucky where i hit it close to the middle of the bumper where the spare wheel is so a lot of damping, but it crumpled my bonnet up damaged part of the slam panenel and crumpled the fromt part of the wing along with smashing the light all on the o/s. all the internals didnt move but could it have bent the chassis leg. when it went for the mot they found no problems.

  11. since rear ending a range rover and having the repairs done it seems different. unless your driving verry slow it doesent want to grip on the o/s under accel and seems unbalanced under braking more lickeley to lock up on the o/s also. from purchase i think it had a slight pull under bracking but now it seems worse, when i told the garage who repaird it they said they couldent find anything bent have also had the 4 wheel alinement done so out of ideas. is it ruined forever or are there checks i can do thx phil

  13. mines about 200 per tank but i drive mine hard i really have to give the vr a break also if you wanna get rid of the annoying saxo,s and corsas just take off the vr badges i never have any probs now in fact no ones interested they must think its a diesel.

  15. maby they wernt driving properly then im not sure apart from filter mine is stock but a filter just makes noise anyway i never really noticed any improvements whilst it was fitted back to standard filter now. i only wish i had enough for a charger maby a couplr of years.
  16. ah short for doh mine is deof stock and kept with it in fact ive had a go with 2 now 1st time i was behind 2 in front i would exact match none of us had the edge i think at 140 we were both flooring it no half mesures anyway that clears that up then. i admire the ctr for the power they produce but think they are ugly cars bit like a strech a class merc.
  17. just to add when this happend i let it go past thought i would catch it by leaving it in 5th from about 80 ish but i was verry much mistaken
  18. r u saying the vr would be quicker overall then i took mine right up to 140 a while back and it was an even match with the type r i will say my chains are really noisy and its done 120000 but even so a 2.0 against a 2.8 it should have the edge at least
  19. since ive had my vr6 it just doesent give me the buzz it used to in standard form it keeps up with honda civic type r,s the new ones had a go with fto today seemed to keep up with that too so is that a healthy engine or should i be a bit quicker?
  20. factory fitted alarm it only seems to sound upon opening the boot bonnet and doors but has 2 sensors inside i cant get it to go off with them has anyone got any ideas thx
  21. what u mean the complete unit or just the broken bit
  22. coming off the inductuion hose after the afm near the tb theres a hose that goes to a round plastic (this is the bit broken) bit then joins to the rocker cover the round bit also has a verry small host coming out of the top what does it do. according to ve u cant buy it anymore u have to buy the complete induction bit with the other bits attached for around £70 i think. if anyone has 1 spare i would be interested as it all comes apart anyway. cheers
  23. they need doing but the price keeps putting me off i can afford it but id rather have a go myself is there any special tools i need.
