in response to jaysvr6 i did actually have a bit of road rage with a 325i bm not the brand new shape but around prob 96 97 year and the vr was slightly faster it all started when i went to pass him on a dual carridgeway as soon as i got past him he pulled behind me but i had to brake beacuse of the cars in front so i ended up with full beam in my mirrors at night and a bm up my rear anyway matey didnt like it 1 bit.
-
another thing when i cleaned my hall sender or whatever you call it i only wiped off the surface oil and didnt remove the oil stains could that be the prob.
-

definatly something wrong with right side front of car abs is working overtime on osf under heavy breaking seems the problem has only come about since i swapped the wheels round.
-
not that i need it right now but i wouldent mind it working could it be a relay or fuse? im not getting that click noise an the revs dont change at all.
-
i did try that both seem pretty much the same wouldent an mot pick up on it. hmm isnt there anyone near maidenhead that could give it a run up the road and give me their opinion.
-
feels verry unbalanced ... caning it of course feels spongy on the right side and the right seems to lose grip and dip under heavy breaking more than the left is my shock knackered how do i check. thx

where is the cooling fan sensor?
matrix replied to matrix's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
it would have shown up about a month ago when i got the abs sorted but all the fault codes were cleared. -
there are so many sensors i dont know whick one controlls the cooling fan and i need to sort it because mine seems to come on way too early somewhere around a quarter the way up the guage in fact as soon as the engine gets warm it seems to be on all the time. what colour is it or where is it located. cheers

shit so they might not fit then anyone wanna buy some gti alloys cheap? although i havent tried them yet so hold your breath see what happens
-
another question i got 2 near brand new tyres with them bit the profiles are different they are 195 65 r 15 and the tyres on my current wheels are 205 50 r 15 my question is will they still fit the standard gti alloys the bloke i bought them from said they came the verry same wheels so would it cause any probs using them? thx in advance

no i didnt check the calliper clearance i assumed the front wheels would be the same as the read as there standard rims vw bbs type. ive also checked the front wheels for play but theres no movement at all. looking at the history of the car i can see both rear shocks have been done, both front tie rods, both front suspension top mounting have been done aswell so that can eliminate some stuff all the done around 1997 so could be wheel bearing on front but why would it do it after i swap the wheels. -
ive got an opportunity to buy some cheap and as my current ones are buggered whould they fit just the same as the bbs lookalikes.

ok i sorted the rear bearings theres a verry smaiil bit of play in both now which im happy with but i have this annoying droning or whirring from the front end now can worn tryes or buckled alloys cause this the noise can be heard at lower speeds it never seemed to be there untill i swapped the wheels round and the tyres are non directional. -

tyres are non directional i did the pressures the other day still pulling left when i swapped the wheels i jacked up on the fornt nearside wishbone is this safe or could i have damaged it somehow. also on another note since i tightened the rear wheel bearings the other day i have a droning noise more noticeable at low speeds whats the correct way to tighten bearings i was told to do the nut up untill it wont turn anymore then slacken off a bit is this wrong.
