Back from beyond... now with added pic's 14/07/09

and a few more... Black sand beach Literally the middle of no-where Interesting roads... More coastline That is in KPH not MPH. The car we bought, yes I know its a Mazda and I would of preferred a dub but jap cars are so cheap it was silly not to get one on the budget we were on. We did ten and a half thousand kilometres in about four months, only needed an oil change and a hole in the exhaust fixing. To boot we sold it for fifty dollars less than we paid for it which is/was about twenty quid, bonus. -

Thanks all. :-d Working through the photo's at the moment [we took over a thousand] but will post some up when I've sorted them out a little. Hairyarse- was that you I heard flying through the village of Maxey the other day with a green VR on your tail, if it was- sounding very sweet indeedy. (y) -
As the title says really I'm back from beyond! :-d Spent the last seven months or so travelling round New Zealand, Australia and Thailand with the missus so thought I'd say hello as i'm finally back and online. Not put my VR back on the road yet but I am working on it, but with a definite lack of job and no cash that may take a little bit of time. ;( [would be pleased to get it started at the moment...grrrr] Anyway its good to be back [well kinda].

17" tyre size on a lowered mk3 vr6??
gloster replied to kniterider's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
Always thought that you were meant to keep the outer diameter as close as possible to the original? *-) There used to be a tyre size calculator link somewhere. Working on that i ran 205/35/17's, which admittedly i found a lousy ride [imo] even though they did look good. -
Right spoken to a mechanic type mate who can't do it but reckons its easier and cheaper just to replace the whole wishbone? After some ringing round, local stealers lived up to their name and Gsf had the better deal and the only one in stock locally- just need someone to do it sharpish as its getting really wooly and vibrating more.
-
Ok. Jacked the front of the car up as high as i dare and looks like there's some play in the front wishbone rear bush so it does look like that is the issue. Take it bushes need to be replaced as a pair? How much of the front suspension needs to be taken apart to get at it? *-)

You don't need that! Like said get the cops involved, surely thats driving away from the scene or something?? Isn't there any damage to his car you can point them towards?
-
Thanks for clearing that up Oli , in France at the mo and internet access is somewhat sporadic. Anyway back on topic, what am i looking at for this wishbone bush thingy or could it be something else??
-
Err, fair point- more what i imagine it to feel like... Do you have cats eyes in Norway? Maybe you dont and you think that i'm talking real cats eyes as in the feline version!
-
Thanks TG. Sounds expensive and not too easy too do? Any idea what i'm looking at cost wise?

Had something of a near miss a couple of weeks ago that required heavy braking from speed around a car that had stopped in the fast lane of a dual carriageway... :@ just missing the kerb and barrier on the inside lane... literally just. Anyway... Since then I've had a vibration coming from the front passenger side wheel when turning right at anything over 50mph through the steering wheel that sounds and feels kinda like driving over miniature cats eyes. Had the wheel off and nothing looks out of place. Thinking I've knocked the wheels out of alignment or something while braking + steering h

Lowering of any description for me. Even with the meagre 40mm drop i have, the whole handling and feel of the car is just so much better. Coilovers if you can afford it, lowering kit if not. :-p

Yep, my drivers side wing repeater keeps popping out... No signs of any clips being broken or such like. A fix rather than replacement would be good to hear about??
-
gutted, is always a pleasure to see you.

gloster replied to Dub-Donna's topic in Previous Events
Afternoon all. Gonna try and make this one but will be running late. Should hopefully see you all there. -
Outta interest how does the auto box handle acceleration wise, say quarter mile flat acceleration from standing start? Not looking for times or anything but what sort of revs does it change up?

Happy Birthday Kerry.
