    I vote Milltek - I've had one on my VR Golf for 4 years & it has been brilliant, unlike the Supersprint system I had before which banged on the axle & rotted its rear box in less than 3 years Had a Jetex on my MKII GTI & it was really loud, but don't know what they're like on the VR

    The electric one is mounted vertically on the back of the engine behind the coil pack

    If it was me, I'd be inclined to change the oil cooler in addition to the oil & filter as they seem to have a habit of rusting and then failing at about 80K miles. It's cheap to change but can be bl**dy expensive if it fails. My first one took the HG with it & it took a lot of flushing to get all the oil out of the rad! Don't use anything but the VW oil filter as it has a buil;t-in non-return valve which the pattern ones don't. Any good quality semi-synthetic oil is suitable. Change it every 6-8 thousand miles for maximum engine life.

    Yes Personally, I wouldn't. Modern oils already have all the detergent needed to keep the engine gunge-free. Frequent oil & filter changes are the best way to keep things tip-top IMO

    I can confirm that VR's love motorway miles - one of mine's just clocked 151K (almost all motorway miles) & it's still on the original chains! Hydraulic tappets & guides were changed about 20K ago and it still uses no oil between changes (every 5K in deference to its mileage). Still a great engine and as quiet as my other 2 VR's that have half the miles!

    Newsflash - Just updated to FF 1.0.7 & now it doesn't seem to have this problem, so unless you've fixed it Pete, I reckon it must have been tripping a bug in the Mozilla engine. Either way, I'm happy Edit - not quite happy. It's subtly changed so that posting a reply causes the problem now !sad Works fine everywhere else though

    I have adjustable Koni's & Eibach springs on mine. It takes about 10-15 minutes a corner to adjust the ride hight (assuming the locking rings aren't siezed!). Damping is dead easy & takes seconds per corner at the front. The rear is a bit trickier as the parcel shelf mounting is in the way. One of the best ways to sharpen up the front end is to run more camber than standard, but it will cane your tyres!

    Now I realise that this is a minor bug, but it doesn't make it any less annoying! When viewing forum posts in Firefox, if you hit the back button to get bak to the form list, the list is massively offset to the right by the left-hand menu being incorrectly resized. Hitting refresh will correctly display the page. I run fullscreen on a 1600x1200 screen if that makes a difference?
