Hi Pete, I've not got a problem with vince its just his supplier thats let him down, just hoped he would be able to source the pistons from another firm Yeah Goldie STD 2.9 pistons (82.5mm) I'm gutted not seen it for ages, bet Vince is sick of seeing it.
-
Vince ordered the pistons from Nevlock who had 5 pistons in stock and also had more 2.9 pistons on back order. The plan was to send the one piston 8 weeks later it never happened as the 'production schedules are heavily dictated by OE manufacturers' not driven my VR this year and I am pi55ed Off!!

Hi All, Little advice required....... Sent my rado for a full rebuild in Feb and was told I should take 2 weeks. Had a few problems with con-rods and other stuff, then Vince said that the replacment pistons had arrived but only 5, not much use for V6 then. He said they should have the final piston by mid/end of March. Were in June now and stil no sign of getting my car back as Mahle wont have the pistons until sept. Anyone know where to get a full set of new 2.9 pistons?? before sept anyway. Help required really missing the VR!!!!!!!

VR6 Crankcase Oil Scraper/MK3 vs MK4 Sump Discussion
57ORM replied to cadguy77's topic in Engine Tuning
Cheers for the pic's Told Stealth to get one yesterday so missed any possible GB. -
Hi Mate, Think vince charges £2700 + vat for a standard rebuild. Might be worth looking @ a re-con engine as it is cheaper than a rebuild :- Thank you for your recent enquiry for an engine for a VW Corrado VR6 2.9 ABV 1995 We can supply a fully remanufactured, service exchange complete tested engine for this vehicle at £1395.00 + Vat The engine is in stock and available for next day delivery. The unit carries a 12 month / unlimited mileage warranty for both parts & labour. If the unit had a problem concerning component failure or remanufacturing fault during the warranty period, t

VR6 Crankcase Oil Scraper/MK3 vs MK4 Sump Discussion
57ORM replied to cadguy77's topic in Engine Tuning
My engine is currently in bits and was wondering about this, there is a few 180 deg bends round my way and after the bottom end failure want to eliminate oil surge would a scrapper be better of a baffled sump. Doesn't the baffled 24v sump sit a little lower? -
Mods include;- BMC CDA, Schrick Mani, Schrick 268s, Raceland Mani, Full Supersprint system no CAT, 3.68 FD and Peloquin Diff Got Koni Coilovers and ARBs at home ready to put on when I get the car back. Full rebuild and fitting mods is over the 4k marker now but my crank was fooked and one of the conrods. VW supply conrods as a set but they were different to mine weighing more so had to source second hand. Plus they only had 5 2.9 pistons left so Vince is getting these from someone else, hence the delay Oh well !!! Its my pride and joy and have wanted one since I was 15 so after 6 years of driv

Hi Mark, I suffered the same fate,2nd hand crank & conrods required, ended up going for a full engine rebuild. To be honest the price difference between local firms and Stealth racing is not that much and for the peace of mind I sent mine down to Stealth. Don’t want anyone learning on my car if you know what I mean plus his reputation is so good why take a chance anywhere else? Should get it back mid March with a few tweaks, can’t wait last drove it back in Oct / Nov time

This shite is everywhere now!!! Tell me about it. Got ripped off last week, half of it was sprayed with that shit yet the other half was untouched going back to good old pollen until some good HG can be sourced

A sorry sight really feel for ya mate Where in Manchester are you? I'm in sale and we had the less professional t-leaves about (3 Kids) tried to steal my elderly neighbours motor last Friday. Bent the door and were having a go at the ignition when a local dog walker gave chase. Police didn't turn up till four hours later (Friday Night tho) My neighbour was preparing to watch the car all night as it wasn’t secure so I was out @ midnight taking the battery off as the police had to go and collect some more drunks. Must say over the last week plenty of police patrolling my road / local area.

no way just been on that website looking at what I can't have. lol I would go for a supercharger kit for reliability and every day use but I don't think you can brake the 300 BHP that easily Turbo's are great but that huge lump of power will stress parts more but getting over 300 BHP is a lot easier. As I've never driven a turbo VR6 I don't know if you lose the refinment from the silky smooth VR6

Well done!! Hoping mine should be about the same similar mods apart from Schrick that said yours is ODB2 but fingers crossed the 2.9 might make up on that.

this one was up for sale http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?142436.post

Cheers Tom, Already got the Schrick, the onlt mod I don't have yet on the list is the 268 cams. Forgot to mention the 6 branch and supersprint exhaust. Yeah think the 3.68 final drive is a good mod just trying to source a LSD at the right price

Afternoon All, A little advice needed as my oil pump gave up I am looking @ getting Stealth to perform a full re-build. This has kinda blown my budget for a supercharger so how can I get the most out of the VR without going down the supercharged route. BMC CDA Power Gasket Schrick VGI 268 Cams Lightened Fly wheel Please feel free to add other mods to do while the engine is in bits as I don't want to miss anything out.

By the alarm you mean that annoying beebing sound, yes Ah well 5hit happens I plan to keep the car till I am old and grey so instead of just sorting the bottom end gonna get the hole thing rebuilt with a few treats, that way it should be good for another 10 years / 100'000

SPOT THE DIFFERENCE ??? I requested the quote on 31/10 £100 more why?? Just make sure it is the sensor, I have suffered from a lazy oil pump recently damaged bottom end. Now looking at a full rebuild
