Sorry to butt in but what sort of price are you looking at to get the chains done?
-
Thanks, I got the stereo fitted in the end. not much space for the wires at the back though....tight fit!

What im trying to do is connect my Clarion stereo. It has a 16 pin connector. Would the 16 pin to iso connector go straight into a golf mk3?
-
Can someone please give me the pinouts of the black iso connector on the mk3 golf?

Oh and its not losing any water or oil, apart from the slight leak on the air intake side of the head...and i mean slight. This is going to bug the hell out of me as i have been looking forward to taking it for a good burn down the motorway but dont want to shag the engine if there is something major wrong!

Sorry to hear that! Im still trying to get round to doing a compression test at a garage but time is not on my side due to work. Im thinking it maybe spark plugs now as it was off the road for about a month and had trouble starting (found out the ignition coil was faulty) so i will look at them this weekend...just seems strange that it runs and idles perfectly and then jumps about like mad as soon as it warms up? If it was the spark plugs or leads would this not affect the cars idle?
-
A blond question: Would you notice a big performance problem if it was the head gasket or would this become a problem over time?
-
How much does a compression test cost? I'll check the 'cheaper' options first and look at the plugs and leads. The leads are fairly newish and spark plugs have only been in there a few months....i'll check anyway. Thanks

How do you test a fuel pump???

Silly question but have you checked the Ignition coil that you are getting a spark? Coil or the module on the coil are prone to failure... -
Ok, i have had a problem with a 'kangerooing' type kick from the car for about 4-5 seconds once the car has warmed up. When i start off in the morning the car runs perfect and idles fine. I had a peformance air filter on the car which i though was causing the problem but i have changed it back to the standard filter but still the same problem. I then had the shock of seeing a 'little' mayo on the cap (i know this can come up in cold weather) and i have a small oil leak air filter side of the head.It was producing a little amount of white smoke from the exhaust but nothing major so i changed th

Nope.....just lack of start. Would put a picture on here but not got a camera at the mo, does anyone else have a pic of a ignition coil, the part i am talking about is connected to the bottom and has the connector for the power input. Ordered from Ebay and still no delivery!!!!!!!!

%-6 Im losing it!! I have bought the coil from Allparts (so that must be right!) i have no ordered the transformer/module which is on the bottom of the coil (OBD1) and now need to know if this will be the same one as all mk 3 golfs or if it needs to be a specific one to a vr6......Please help! !sad
-
No worries, picked up the transformer off Ebay for

Ok, got one for

After all this stress, looks like i have a faulty coil! Cheers for all the help guys!! Anyone know where i can get a decent priced one?
-
checked for a spark by putting the lead against the body/block as 28v6r states above....how easy is it to get to the hall sender on an OBD1?
-
Looks like no spark at all, may be the ignition lead from the starter? Where is the hall sender located? mechanics course for me i reckon!!
-
is there a way to test to see if im getting anything from th starter motor?
-
ok, rotor arm is turning but dont seem to be getting a spark from the leads? could this mean i need new leads? i have also recently changed the distributor cap.
-
Thanks....i'll check for a spark and to see if the rotor arm is turning.
-
Also noticed the lighs dip a lot when turning the ignition, but its a new battery... started first time when i brought a new battery last week? do you think it needs a charge again after turning it over so much? I just want my car back!!! ~

Cn someone confirm exactly which relay is the fuel pump..? Has anyone a diagram of the fuse box? changed back to old one but want to be sure its the right one first....
-
I have also found there was a connector loose which is to the water pump i think? It is located on the right hand side of the engine as you look into the bay. The connector goes ito the top and when i connect it is is making a whirring/buzzing noise......could that cause the problem and is it normal to make that noise?
-
Are you supposed to get a buzzing noise from the fuel pump as it seems kind of quiet to me.......it def has fuel going to the fuel rail as i have checked the hose and it is coming through fine..messed about with the relay and still no joy.....anyone happen to be in the Wycombe area in Buckinghamshire with a vag cable??? !lol
-
Forgot to mention that i had already changed the fuel pump relay.... is there anything else it may be?.....shot in the dark i know!
