  1. same problem just started on mine, front and back wipers come on at random even when in the offposition and i have to flick the switch up and down like to eventually get them off !
  2. ok thanks, ive seen on a few sites the mention of >39999 or 40000- referring to chassis number also some mention the pads having or not having wear indicator? and while we are on the subject is there anything else I should consider changing whilst the wheels are off?

I need 4 standard brake discs and some decent pads, but im a bit confused as to the different models for different chassis numbers, the chassis number in my log book doesnt compare to these (unless im being stupid). I have a 1997 VR6 golf highline, could someone clear things up for me or point me to what i need. thanks.
  4. I need a rear left ABS sensor for my 97 VR6, eurocarparts lists 3 with a wide range of price, whats the difference? whats does anyone suggest?   5. Ive had a thread about this before, but it was a while ago and still not sorted. The noise of the car seems a bit "boomier"/ louder than it used to and at around 4200 revs it seems to make a slight vibration type noise instead of the nice smooth VR6 growl, as revs increase beyond this it returns to normal sound. At 4200revs it seems a bit flat/dead/not as powerful. At times also when changing up gears instead of steady increase in power it seems to be "held back" and I have to rev it some more to get it thru this.. top speed dont seem to be affected it just seems like its doing more work to ge

Doesnt exactly fit to similar threads about steering noise..sounds a bit more than dirt behind the steering wheel and deffo not the power steering pump as this only makes a noise when I go full lock. Its basically a rusty metal type sound when I turn the wheel either direction..seems to come from further down the steering column as opposed to up near the steering wheel.
  7. I went out to replace mine today as it split a while back.. There seems to be a lot of oil over these parts im guessing fumes not oil is supposed to vent here? bigger problems? Im also gettin a loud booming noise when accelerating like a hole in the exhaust but I cannot find a hole.
  8. ah im gonna need the pipe that attaches to this too as it also has a split in it, would I get this from ford also ?
  9. do u know if this include the pipe that attaches it to near the TBody?
  10. would this be it? mines split in several places..does that ford part replace the entire thing circled above? or are the parts ordered seperatly.
  11. Could someone tell me what this part is called and if possible part numbers for replacement as it has split open in 2 places were the arrows are.
  12. damn mate that sucks!!! after hearing that I had a quick check of the oil filler cap etc. seems fine..but on a more positive note my new plugs and leads went in yesterday and ive been out in the car since 9am this morning and not a single splutter after nearly 10 hours of driving! !amazed

  15. ok carb cleaner has sorted my idling problem, its no longer irregular and doesnt need a blip on the accelerator to get her started any more so im happy... it has had no effect on the rough splutter problem when warm, still just as bad.

We have the golf in the garage attempting to install the FK silverline x coilovers.. when the fronts are installed with the old top rubber mounts and securing bolts there is still alot of play at the top even after tightening, we cant seem to figure out where we have gone wrong, so if anyone else has fitted these is this normal ?
  17. is there a guide to cleaning the TB and ISV ? is the ISV on the TB?
  18. well i hijacked yours too so no worries seems like we have the same issue. have you had yours on vag-com for fault codes? if my isv is causing the fluctuating idle then I guess ill replace the throttle body, whether or not this fixes the spluttering we will soon find out.
  19. update on this as its still not fixed.. only happens after 30 mins or so of driving, when its cold its fine. idle seems to fluctuate badly, need to rev car to start it or it dies, lights/blowers etc. dim when idle fluctuates. getting this fault code: 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation 14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded could all these be related to the spluttering/rough thing im getting from the engine?
