  1. Mine does this too - it's for about 5-10 seconds then it shuts up. It's not a tappet noise (I've got full history and been serviced < 1k miles ago) so I think it's the tensioner bearing as I've done nearly 100K and I bet it's never been given any tlc...
  2. I'll be doing mine silver or black, but that's on a dragon green. last car I did them on, I bought 2 tubs of hammerite and did a custom mix which was mainly silver but a bit of gold. Looked like new Anyway, red looks awesome on a black car :)
  3. Get down your local garage and get them to do a sniffer test on it - foolproof way of knowing... I also am losing water but the HG has been done - I think it's the heater matrix
  4. I bought my 97 P with FVWSH, head gasket been done and chain tensioner done with 97k miles on it for just over 2K. No rust anywhere and it's a tidy car. Prices are just crazy - the Corrado's are way more £££ for not alot more car!
  5. A valeter that pays attention to all the details - likes to get everything spot-on. For example, will never miss a bit of the bodywork / arches / back of the wheels / leave swirl marks in the paint, will do the glass and even the exhaust tips!
  6. I've got one you can have - £20 quid ok with free postage ?
  7. Make sure you get a thermostatic one though!
  8. Defo aint working then as I got loads of spin earlier
  9. Been reading on parkers and they imply that all VR6's came with traction control - not sure mine has. How can I check it (I get some wheelspin in 1st but i'd have expected a light on the dash or something!) Do they all come with it or is this something else that's gone wrong with my car!)
  10. It's 12 degrees here in Chester!!!!!!

    Heated seats

Is it just leather or do cloth seats have them? What am I looking for under the seats?
  12. (would use the search but it's AWOL for the mo ) Anyone had a remap from ChippedUK? They claim it's bread and butter stuff to them but I'd not heard them mentioned on here... Anyone, or I am going to be the guinea pig?
  13. I'm trying to find a picture of the inlet manifold differences between an OBD1 and 2 but get a not authorised message
  14. That, or 5th gear at 30mph and put the pedal to the floor - see if the revs rise faster than the speed
  15. move the mirror glass as far right as you can and see if you can see a couple of wires going to the back of the mirror glass - if you have, you've got heated mirrors and something's not working
  16. This is exactly the reason why I get my mech to go over it an list everything that's wrong with a new car purchase. You get time to plan / buy before you have to Doesn't make it any easier on the wallet though lol Always good to know that it's a beauty when the bits are fixed though
  17. There's a lot of people on www.detailingworld.co.uk (people like Sanky used, and cav and 182_blue [and me!]) who take care of car paintwork and take pride in how it looks, but the majority of people dont care about swirl marks When they see a properly detailed car, there's no comparison!!!
  18. I'm here and on DW too :-p 8-| Pics will be up once photobucket is back Only had the car a couple of weeks so haven't had any sunshine ones lol and some beading from Collinte as it was raining tonight
  19. Best bet by far is to take it to the local valeter and for 25 quid they will wax and polish it. Swirls will still be there but majority of the work done.... Me? I've spent over a grand in equipment on getting it swirl free and wax'd...
  20. Redline is meant to be good. I use valvoline fully synth as I can get it from Euro car parts for not a lot of £££. I think it's 75W90 that you need, but someone more knowledgeable can advise. If you're feeling particularly generous, just grab some cheap comma oil, fill it, run it for 50-100 miles then swap for the good stuff - gets the swarf / old cr*p oil out in the cheap stuff and leaves it clean for the good stuff
